The Fleeting Kiss

Regina locked herself in her room the whole day right after that fateful breakfast they had. She pretended she was asleep when Red knocked on her door around noon to ask her to have lunch with him. She even pretended not to hear anything when Red pounded on the door so hard to wake her up that their neighbors had to check if there was something wrong - which was obviously handled by Red, with his charms and all.

It was twenty minutes past nine in the evening when Regina saw a silhouette from her balcony, just right outside her room. It scared her since the only thing between her bed and the balcony is a frail looking sliding door and a neon pink curtain that she got from the local flea market. Her heart was beating so fast as the intruder was nearing the door. She immediately looked for some things that she could use as a weapon in case the intruder attacks her.

Of course, he will attack you, he's  an intruder! He is supposed to do that, you idiot! Regina's mind screamed while she was busy gathering all her spray colognes to spray on the intruder's eyes when he gets too close.

What if he has a gun? This thought really scared her wits to hell. How can she protect herself from a gun? She is no Wonder Woman, she doesn't have bullet proof bracelets made of amazonium. And it's not like they're in the States where she can just dial 911 to ask for help. She lives in a country where the government thinks that road projects are more important than the people's safety. There was practically no one who can save her. She's just totally helpless.

And just when she thought all hope is lost, she remembered the one person she had been avoiding for the whole day, Red. She stood up and immediately ran to the door to go to the room across hers when she heard her sliding door's soft click. Heart-racing, and her sweat was dripping all over when she fumbled for the door knob as the intruder successfully opened her balcony door.

Regina let out a scream as she tripped trying to get to Red's door. She fell face down on the floor, her forehead hitting the wooden floor so hard.

"Rej!" Red called out from her room, concern was obvious in his voice.

Despite the pain from hitting the floor, Regina turned to her room with one eye closed and saw Red standing there with a tray of what looked like her favorite meal.

"It was you?" Regina tried to sit up, her hand on her forehead feeling the bump already forming. "You were my intruder?" she scowled.

"Did I scare you?" Red's face was apologetic but she was not ready to forgive him, yet.

"Of course you did! Why didn't you just knock on my door? That could've been less scary." She looked away from him for he was standing in her doorway with the lights from her room behind him making him look like a Greek God, it was blinding her. That, plus the fact that her head hurts so bad she can't open her eyes for a whole minute.

Red placed the tray on her desk next to the door and scooped her up from the floor. She was trying to protest but she was just in pain.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I just want to bring you food because you haven't eaten all day and I know that if I knocked you would only ignore me." Red put her on the edge of her bed and inspected the bump. "How bad is it?"

"It's nothing. You can go now."

"No." he said sternly. "Let's have it checked. Blunt head trauma can cause serious brain damage."

"It's fine, I'm fine, no need to worry. It's just a bump." she said.

"Fine." he sighed in resignation. "We're not going to the doctor but I'm staying here with you, and I'm not going anywhere unless you eat your dinner and after I have made sure that you're not suffering from head trauma."
