I'm walking towards a bar called Dawnstar. It's one of tonight's bar checks. Every once in a while I go around town and check the bars, and clubs for trouble. I step up to the door of the bar. But the bouncer stops me. "Come on man, must you stop me every time?" I ask. "I've got to make sure your old enough." He says. "But you know I'm not old enough, or here to drink." "Yes but I've got to stop you, at least. If I just let you walk right through without giving you a second glance, then I could get in trouble. I've stopped you now. So go on in." He waves me through. I walk in and there are people every where. Most are sitting at tables but some are at the bar. I walk up to the bar and sit down. The bartender comes over and says. "Sorry kid, you're to young to sit at the bar." I look up at him. His eyes widen slightly, but he doesn't take it back. "Ok." I say getting up, moving the chair I was in, and standing in the same spot. "Now I'm not sitting at the bar." He sighs. And mumbles something that I can't hear, he then asks if I want anything to drink. "No thanks. I'm just making sure no one here is breaking the Treaty. This is the kind of place they like to do that." I say. He nods and leans close. "There's a wizard over at the end of the bar, he's pretty drunk, and he's now threatening me with magic for more drinks, instead of money." He points to a well dressed guy at the end of the bar. He has a plaid flannel on and some jeans. The guy has red eyes that I can see from way over here, and a small beard. Like a lumberjack's beard. I walk to where he is, and tap his shoulder. "Uh, hey. I think you've had enough to drink. Let's get you out of here." I say. He cringes away from my touch. "Don't, I'll kill you. With magic, I will." He says. "I doubt that highly, come on." I pull on his arm a little harder. He whirls around and chants something in a language I don't understand. I suddenly find myself whirling and flying through the air, as if I'm in a tornado. For a moment I think he used some kind of wind spell on me. But just as fast as it started the 'tornado' stops. I'm standing in the same place I was before, in the same building. But the building is torn to pieces. There are holes in the wall, showing the street. Half of the roof is missing, letting a nighttime breeze blow throw the bar. Everyone has disappeared, including the wizard. I walk, confused, to the front door and through it into the street. The town looks completely abandoned. It also looks like someone bombed it. Most of the buildings are ruins. And there are ones that are mere skeletons of foundation. I walk around, looking for any signs of life. So far I see none. I am about to try heading back home to see how that looks, but I catch a scent. It's like nothing I've ever smelled before. I then hear a scuffling noise in the building to my left.. I turn to it. It's Charlotte's flower shop! "Oh no..." I whisper. It's in ruins. I hear another noise, from inside. I walk closer, and step over the rubble. I'm about to walk through one of the missing windows when some animal jumps out and tackles me to the ground. The smell from before is strong now, this is what it was. It roars at me, a small hiss like roar, and pulls out a gun. It's a small, pistol sized, gun. It's glows green when the thing pulls the trigger, but doesn't fire, the green glow gets bigger and bigger until I teleport out from under the thing. He fires a shot into the ground right were my head was. It gets up, baffled. Now that I can see it without being attacked by it, it looks more like it has some kind of armor on. It turns towards me and roars again. It charges towards me, gun pointed in my direction. It fires off a few green shots. I dodge out of the way and punch it in the face. It staggers a little, but it's about to charge again when I hear a gun go off. Purple blood sprays from the side of it's head as it falls to the ground. I immediately look around, wondering where the shot came from. I sniff the air, and trace the smell of humans to a large pile of rubble across the street. No sooner than I look over do I see marines poke their heads out from behind the pile. A small squad of 4 comes out from behind the rock. They rush over to me. "Kid are you ok?" One asks. I look at him. "Yeah... What... What was that thing?" I ask. He looks at the dead animal. "You don't know? That was a Jackal." He says. I instinctively look back at the animal. I then laugh. "That's not a jackal, jackals are a type of large dog that live in the wild. Not even in America. That thing is not a jackal." I say. "No not the animal. Thats what we call that type of alien. A Jackal. Then normally carry energy shields, but I guess his wasn't out cause you didn't have a gun." "Alien!?" I shout. "Yes, alien. Where have you been the past 13 years?" He asks. Wait a second. "Wait. What... What year is it?" I ask. "It's year 2538." He says. I stare open mouthed for a second. "Oh sh-"
