Clary POV
I peel my eyes open with bright beams of sun dancing before my eyes. Laying on my side, my back is deliciously warm. I groan slightly as I cuddle into my sheets. I feel Jace's chest move as he chuckles and a strand of my red hair is moved from my eyes. "Good morning Mrs. Herondale," he mumbles as he kisses my head.
I twist over in the sheets and look at him. "Were you watching me sleep like some crazy stalker?" I ask with a raised eyebrow.
He just smirks. "No. I was watching you sleep like a loving stalker. There's a difference you know."
I laugh a little. "Yeah, huge difference." I press my lips to his lightly and wrap my fingers in his hair. His arms wrap around my waist as he gently holds me. I sigh into the kiss as Jace deepens it.
And then the crying starts.
I pull away from Jace and sigh. "And that would be Jonathan." I get out of bed, adjusting my t shirt over my growing stomach, and walk to my two year old son's room. When I get there he looks absolutely mortified. "Aw what's wrong Bubba? Did you have a nightmare?" I ask as I pick him up and sit in the cushiony lounge chair we have in there.
He nods his head and I kiss his forehead while flattening his wild red hair. "I scared mommy," he says softly before I hold him closer.
"It's okay Bubba. Mommy's here. You're safe bud," I whisper as I rock him slowly. "Do you wanna tell me what happened in your nightmare?" Jonathan shakes his head slightly and I kiss it again. "How about some breakfast then?"
He takes his head out of my shoulder smiling. "Yes please!" he says enthusiastically which makes me laugh. I stand up and carry him to the kitchen where Jace is making eggs. "Daddy!" Jon yells which makes us both laugh.
"Hey Bubba," Jace says as I put Jonathan in his chair.
Cecily walks into the kitchen yawning. "That kid has way bigger lungs than you'd think. I need hearing aids and I heard him," she jokes.
Jace looks over from the pan and smirks slightly. "And yet the twin who can hear just fine is still sound asleep."
"Well that's Luca for ya. Hey Bubba, wanna help me wake him up in a really annoying way?" Cecily says smirking evily. After Jon nods his head furiously, Cecily helps him out of his booster seat and they rush off towards Luca's room.
"Okay, this I have to see," I state rising from my chair and walking after them.
I stand in the doorway as Cecily picks up Jonathan and puts him next to Luca's sleeping form. She signs Wait as she moves to the other side of his bed. She counts down with her fingers and they start singing the wake up song they made specifically for Luca.
"Wake up Luca! Get your butt out of bed! You smell like rotten cheese but we love you anyway! So wake up Luca before we hose you down! You'll still smell and be really wet but at least you'll be awake!" they sing/shout and I laugh as Luca sits straight up. "Yay!" Jonathan yells as he jumps on top of Luca.
Luca grunts slightly. "Bubba," he complains.
"C'mon you rascals. Your dad should have breakfast ready," I say smiling at my children. Cecily runs past me, most likely to get away from Luca, who slowly walks out because he's still tired. I run my hand over his hair as he walks by. Jonathan runs into my arms and I hoist him up.
I walk back to the kitchen and place Jonathan in his booster seat. Jace puts Jonathan's yogurt and fruit on the table in front of him and he gets excited before digging in. As Jace and I get breakfast for Luca and Cecily set up we discuss our plans for the day. "So I'm gonna go into the at gallery today to check on the new exhibit while you take the kids to school and daycare before you go to work, okay?" I ask Jace while I start eating my eggs.
