Yalla is a collage student who disided to surprise her parents by coming home for Labor Day weekend. When she arrived from her five hour trip she found her parents had disided to go to a relatives house over night so she had some time to rest and figure out what stories to tell her parents when they got home. It had been a while from last time they really got to catch up. As she turns the key, standing on the front porch she thinks "Together with her boyfriend and best friend/roommate there are a lot of great stories to choose from!"
After taking a shower and turning on the local news she makes a pot of coffee and cuddles into the couch she remembered so well.
"This is home," she sighs and watches as her home town gets their annual parade up and going. All the local stores sponsoring a float or making their own. A lot of them need the help. Not a lot of people do their shopping at the small stores in town. They go to chain stores that are affordable, but they lack in quality. The parade is a way of the little businesses and organizations to get an audience with the people. A chance to show what they've got and that they exist.
One float really catches her eye. It's from the local flower store! So many brightly colored flowers and such a quaint randtion of a jungle. Kids from the library's reading program are dressed up as monkey's and the owners and parent volunteers are jungle
explorers. She sighs as she remembers back to when the old owners had the shop. Their floats were the best when she was a kid.
