A/N Hello! So this book is going to be written by siesi215 and g_sarah . We decided to collaborate on a book, so this is our shared account. I (g_sarah) am going to be writing from Cody's POV, while siesi215 is going to be writing from Sophia's POV. The POV's will alternate each chapter. Thank you for checking out our book and I hope you enjoy it!

I turned the wheel of my SUV to accommodate a turn in the road. I saw a little boy and a little girl running around in their backyard. They reminded me of Sophia and I when we were little. We were best friends growing up and would have remained friends if my dad's job hadn't dragged me out to California. But on the flip side, I really love California. I love the feel of hot sand between my toes at the beach, and the feel of riding a decent sized wave at evening, when people had music blasting and everyone was just chillin. I did wish I could've brought Sophia, but I couldn't. So she remained in South Carolina, where we grew up. I wondered what she did for a job, or if she was married, or engaged. I wasn't married. I didn't even have a girlfriend. My guy friends joke around that it's because I'm gay, but I'm not. I just haven't found the right girl yet. I pulled in to the parking lot near the beach. It was close enough to my house to walk, but I didn't feel like carrying my surf board there, so I drove. Today, it was just me and Theo. The other boys had to finish something at work so they couldn't make it. I hopped out of my SUV and grabbed my surf board from the back. I took off my shirt and threw it in the back, where my surf board just was.
"Hey Cody!" Somebody yelled.
I turned around and Theo was waving me over to his truck. I shut the trunk, picked up my surf board, and made my way over to him.
"I heard there's a surf contest tonight. Wanna kick some butt?" He asked.
I nodded and smirked "sure, I'm always up for a challenge"
He grabbed his board from the back of his truck and we walked down to the beach. There were only a few surfers out. We ran out into the water. I put my board down on the water and laid on it. I paddle out further. I looked for a good wave starting to form. I found one. I paddled with the direction of the wave, then stood up. I felt the wind ruffle my hair. A slight spray of salt water hit my chest.
"Anyone joining the surf contest please come sign up now." Said a voice through a microphone. I laid on my board again and paddled back to the shore. I stood in line with a bunch of other surfers who were competing.
"Name?" A girl asked.
That's when I realized I was at the beginning of the line.
"Cody Bastille"
"Age?"
"21"
"Alright, you're all set"
"Thank you" I said, then walked to the group of surfers that were competing. Most of them were talking but I stood quietly. Someone tapped on my shoulder. I turned to see Theo's dark brown eyes. Something about Theo's features reminded him of Sophia.
"Earth to Cody" he said waving his hand in front of my face. "I asked if you were excited"
"Yeah" I said distractedly.
"You don't seem like it" he said.
"I'm just distracted. It's nothing to worry about" I said.
"It is something to worry about if it is gonna affect your game bro"
"It won't" I lied.
"Right" he said, unconvinced.
I zoned out as the other surfers went to the water. Then they called my name.
"Cody Bastille"
I grabbed my surf board.
"Good luck" Theo whispered.
I ran to the water, then paddled out like I normally do. I found the perfect wave. It was bigger than normal.
Something didn't feel right, as I began to ride the wave.
I was surfing but it didn't feel right. It always felt right when I was surfing though. Something was definitely wrong.
I completed the wave. My stomach was churning, waiting for the next one. I saw Theo on the shore. He was practically going nuts. He ran his hands through his hair and paced in the sand. He knew something was wrong too. I paddled with the next wave. I stood up. The world was spinning. I could barely find Theo in the swirl. I heard my name being yelled before everything went black.

"Cody,"
I blinked "huh?"
"Cody" the voice said again.
Theo's face came into view. I looked around. We were in a cabin.
"Where are we? What happened?" I asked.
"We are in my house. And you passed out during your surf performance."
I touched my forehead where it was throbbing. My head was wrapped.
"You hit your head on a rock in the water when you fell." Theo explain "you were bleeding pretty bad. Looks like you might have a scar."
I sighed.
"How'd your performance go?" I asked.
He glanced at me " I, uh, didn't preform"
"Why not?!"
"I was concerned about you...I couldn't preform with you hurt."
"Thanks bro, but that wasn't necessary. I'm fine" I said.
"Says the one who is bleeding through the bandage" Theo said.
He began to tend to my forehead and rewrap it.
"...I wrecked my reputation..." I whispered.
"So did I..." Theo agreed.

The door opened. The rest of the boys came walking in.

"What happened to you?" Chase asked looking at me.

"He passed out while surfing and hit his head" Theo answered for me.

I wish he hadn't. I wish he had just lied.

"No way, that's lame" Noah said.

"yeah, what were you thinking? You just ruined our rep bro" Liam chimed in.

"What about you, Theo, did you at least revive us?" Chase asked.

Theo shook his head. We were in trouble.

"What the heck!"Chase nearly screamed "You had a chance and didn't take it!"

"But I was helping Cody." He protested.

"It was either Cody or all of us and you chose Cody?!" He stepped closer to Theo.

I sat up, my face pinched with anger. "Don't touch him." I growled.

Chase pierced me with his blue eyes. "Watch me" he whispered menacingly.

With one hard swing, he punched Theo in the face. Theo fell to the floor. I practically had steam coming out of my ears. I lunged for Chases throat but he blocked my hands. Someone kicked my side. I fell to the floor with the wind knocked out of me. I sat up to see Theo attack Chase. Theo had blood running down his face but Chase looked as if he had not been touched. Theo got a few good hits in before Chase had him pinned to the wall. I didn't see what happened next though because Liam mounted me and began to punch me. I blocked my face with my arms, but Liam was ripped off of me. Theo grabbed my shirt and pulled me up. We made our way outside and to Theo's truck. We got in and he drove.

We stopped in a parking lot.

"I'm gonna get peroxide and bandages okay?" he said.

"I'm coming" I stated.

We went in with blood dripping down both of our faces. We grabbed peroxide and bandages. we walked up to the check out.

"Shouldn't you be at the hospital?" The lady behind the counter asked us.

"No, ma'am we are fine. We can handle this."

"I'm not letting you drive home in that condition" she said.

I rolled my eyes. Theo sighed. He wasn't looking to put up another fight. We were both sore and tired. She picked up the phone and dialed 911. She talked to them and when she hung up she said an ambulance was on the way to pick us up.
The lady, Lydia according to her name tag, asked us what happened. Theo explained what had happened over the last 24 hours.
"So where are you guys headed off to now?" She asked.
Theo shrugged.
"South Carolina" I said.
They both looked at me.
"That's a long way from here" Lydia said.
"It's where I used to live" I explained.
Theo didn't object to the idea of driving all the way there.
We heard the sirens from the ambulance. They came in and escorted us to the ambulance. Once again we had to explain what happened. They cleaned up our cuts and gave us a cream to apply to them daily, then let us go. Theo drove us to the nearest Walmart. We slept in his truck for the rest of the night.
