Chapter 5.
(Eva's POV)
The next day I hid from Seungri as well as I could just as Seunghyun had instructed me to do. But the house was small and dark which made it feel like he could be hiding anywhere, so I decided to go for a walk outside. I took one of the hats hanging on the pegs by the door and walked out.I still didn't have any shoes so walking on the hard and prickly gravel hurt my feet. Still I was determined to be away for the rest of the day so I could go to bed straight away when I returned. That way I most definitely wouldn't run into Seungri, I hoped. Thoughtlessly I steered my steps in the direction of the town and soon enough I found myself standing outside a bar. Even though I had no money I went inside since it was better to await sundown inside than outside in gassing sunlight. Even though I didn't look it right now because I was so covered in dirt I was really light skinned and it didn't take much for it to burn and go painfully red and sore.
I opened the door to the bar and was immediately hit by music, the smell of different alcoholic drinks and pukes being mixed. A grimace covered my face before I knew it as I sat down in the darkest corner by a window covered by black curtains.I woke up to hear two men who sat nearby me having a heated discussion in a whispering tone. I had always hated whispers so I assumed that was why I woke up. Just as I was about to fall back to sleep I overheard the subject of their conversation and my ears unconsciously focused.
"No you're wrong. I'm telling you it's a gang from OUR town who's behind her disappearance." One of the men insisted. He looked younger than the other man but they were both wearing weird looking cowboy hats.
"I am certain it's from that industrial town east from ours. They were always jealous of our women. They probably kidnapped her and gave her a new identity." The older man said firmly.
"She can't be alive. She would have run away by now." The younger thought. "She's probably either locked up somewhere or dead. And I'm telling you it's someone from our town's doing."
"But she just can't be dead. Why would someone want to kill her? How could a young woman her age have any enemies?"
"She was 20 for christ sake, she probably had a dirty secret someone couldn't risk getting revealed."
My face stiffened as I was resting it on my arms facing the two men. My eyes were closed though so I hoped they hadn't caught me eavesdropping. It was just that the fact she was the same age as me made me terrified. 20 year old women going missing in the town I was supposed to be safe in. I couldn't believe my dad was in his right senses when he wrote that note."Besides, I could name a handful of men in this town that could be more than likely to sink to the level of women- kidnapping and murder." The younger man continued but I was already out the door as soon as I'd heard the first name. I didn't care wether they found out I'd listened to their conversation, I just had to get away from everything. So I ran and I ran.
