I hear the chirp of the tropical birds flowing through the Caribbean air, the sun endlessly streaming through the freshly washed beige drapes and softly landing on my naked body, my eye lids flutter open making me wince in sharp pain of the beautiful yet deadly light. I wrap the soft plush comforter hiding some of my back side and slowly lift my head as to where I am in eye contact with my new spouse, soaking in his image that made my heart stop the first time I saw him. His long eye lashes, his full African lips that are so taunting, the structure of his seemingly perfect cheek bones, and his smoothly arched nose and fuzzy earlobes. His manly shoulders that soak up the sunlight, his burly chest and tightened skin right above his belly button creating a nice set of abs, and his long fingers that hold a burnished wedding band vowing our love towards each other, I smiled for it was only just yesterday when we devoted ourselves to each other in holy matrimony. I placed my hand tenderly on his cheek soothingly brushing my thumb against his radiant brown skin. It wasn't until shortly that he opened his eyes and placed his hand upon mine and revealing to me a glorious smile
"Good morning beautiful."
He says softly,
Not wanting his normally thunderous voice to ruin the atmosphere, he wraps his arm around my waist drawing me closer to him and placing a lush's kiss upon my lips.
"You didn't even give me time to brush my teeth, what man wants to kiss a bad breathed woman?"
I said mortified and he laughed at my unease but didn't move an inch,
"Karla you have had many reek days, let's just add this one to the list."
I covered my eyes with embarrassment, to think I thought I got away with those days. He sat up a little making the sheet go a little below his waist line,
"So my dearest husband tell me what we got planned today?"
Curiosity gleams in my eyes as I look up at him in wonder,
"Well today we'll be going deep sea diving and get a chance to explore the Caribbean for its islands beauty."
I nodded indicating my interest and trying to hide my excitement. I had never been out of Texas before, besides going to Orlando Florida during the summer of my childhood with my Aunt/Guardian/Mother Joyce, I've never seen the beauty of other countries and cities, I always desired to go to New York but since this is our honeymoon we decided to go for a more calm setting then the hustle and bustle of the city.
I sat up holding the sheet to were it would cover my chest, my hands swiping my hair out of my face revealing my high cheek bones, Aunt Joyce says that the Howsley family is part Cherokee Indian, White, and black. I find it fascinating that I'm not just Black or African-American, America just dosent have one breed of human flesh anymore, we're all like a big gumbo pot, Isn't it wonderful?
"Well I better take a shower before our busy day gets started."
I get up from the bed taking the sheets along with me, I dig through my purse finding my phone lighting up with several text messages, I Immediately open the first one and was greeted by a picture of a newborn baby wrapped in Pink clothe and the subtitles below saying "Angel Julian Dupree" my older sister Clara had given birth to her baby yesterday after the wedding.
"Awe this totally sucks."
"What sucks?"
Octavious had put on some clean underwear and jeans still unbuttoned, making his way over to me.
"Clara had her baby yesterday and I wasn't there for the birth, hence the Suckiness."
He looked over my shoulder seeing the picture of his new niece and smiled,
