I slowly opened my tired, crusted eyes. I had absolutely no idea where I was. I was laying on a very uncomfortable wooden bed with one thin sheet.
I looked around and saw a small little room.
There was a flickering lamp in the corner, a mirror and a toilet with a sink in the other, a small door on the wall closest to me, one tiny night stand almost connecting to my bed, and a fan turning slowly above my head. Nothing else.
I got up slowly, I had lost all memory of who I was, or where I came from or who my parents were or what my name was or anything. Don't ask me how I lost it because I had no idea. Obviously. I walked to the dusty mirror and looked at myself. In my reflection, I see a narrow face, big, dark blue eyes, a thin nose, and high cheek bones. Long, wavy, brown hair cascaded down to the lower part of my ribs. I looked about the age of sixteen or seventeen. I wasn't the type of girl that was drop-dead-gorgeous, but I was still pretty. I looked down at the sink and saw that there was a bar of soap and a towel. There was no shower, so I guess washing my face would have to do. I went to turn on the sink and right when I did a pile of dust fell out of it, and made a huge mess on my clothes and all around the sink. I cringed as I felt it on me. It looks like nobody has used this for awhile... I really wonder how long I've been stuck in this room for. I tried turning it on again and this time it worked, sending a cool stream of water on my hands, making me shiver.I tried turning the nozzle both ways but no matter which way I turned it, it always ended up being cold. Well it will just have to do I thought to myself. I slowly stuck my face in the water and started scrubbing it with the soap on the sink. When I was finished I grabbed for the towel on the left of me and realized that to, had a layer of dust on it. Now I really wondered how long I had been sleeping. I shook it out before gently wiping my face off on it. I walked over to my small bed and plopped down on the crispy sheet. I looked down at myself, I was wearing a Aeropostale shirt half ripped on one side, and tattered denim jeans. I had no shoes on, just a pair of grey socks. Oh man did I look bad. I looked around the room and spotted a pair of fairly new sketcher boots. At least they had the decency to give me shoes I thought to myself. As I sat there, I thought about how I got into this place, and why "they" or whoever, placed me in this room. I tried to think how many days I've been sleeping for, or what I did the night before I got here. It was no use I couldn't remember anything not even my parents name, or where I lived. I tried countless times trying to remember at least one time, but again I remembered absolutely nothing. As I laid there trying to think, I felt a muggy, hot breeze in the room covering all around me. It was so warm and inviting to just fall asleep right then and there. Even though I wasn't the slightest bit sleepy I got more and more tired as the minutes passed. The air was getting hotter and my eyelids were slowly drooping. It took all my energy to keep myself awake. I don't understand how all the sudden the room temperature got so hot. I couldn't help it. I had to lay down. My eyes were getting to the point that it hurt to keep them open. I gave into the heat, and the strange sensation of falling asleep. The last thing I saw was the wooden nightstand beside my bed. Slowly I closed my eyes. I woke up with a start sitting up on my bed. Was that all a dream? Was I not really stuck in that prison cell? Then I looked around me. Disappointed I saw the now familiar little room. I sighed. I wonder how long I had been asleep for? I hope not to long as I could not tell because there was no window in the little bedroom. Cold air swept all around me sending a shudder through my body. I turned to grab the thin blanket off my bed when I noticed something on my nightstand. I scooted over to the front of my bed and saw a shiny white plate with food on it! How come I did not see this before? Then it hit me. I realized why the room had gotten so hot all the sudden. And why it was a colder temperature now. They must have wanted me to fall asleep so they could deliver the food in my room without me knowing! So that's how they would keep me alive. By making me pass out from the heat so I wouldn't escape when they opened the door to give me my food. This place was like a prison. I had to escape, but I had no idea how. I looked down at the food to see what I had gotten. "Ew" I mumbled quietly to myself What can I say? it looked like barf. I had one roll of sourdough bread that looked like it had been sitting on a counter rotting for a month, something that had the resemblance of soup, but it smelled like sewer water. I looked at everything with a dreadful look, just as I was about to turn around my stomach growled and I realized I should probably eat something considering it could have been a very long time since my last meal. I slowly picked up the roll cringing as I took my first bite. It was all right until I looked at the place where I bit into it. I had to hold back my puke. The bread not only had mold inside it, the worst part was, it also had medium sized maggots crawling around the middle of the bread, I noticed that there was a half of a maggot still wriggling around I must have ate half of its body! I jumped back letting out a little squeak, dropping the bread on the floor. I was hopping around spitting bread out of my mouth and wiping bread off my tongue with my hand. I couldn't hold it in any more, I ran as fast as I could to the toilet and convulsed puking. The water splashed up into my face but I didn't care I had to get that taste out of my mouth. After that I quickly made my way over to the sink rinsing my mouth out over and over again. I used the towel to the right of me to clean the water off my face. I had lost all of my appetite. Every single bit of it was gone. I would rather starve to death then eat that junk! I guess I had a weak stomach because after that I threw the food in the toilet and flushed it so I would never have to see it again. I realized I would probably be on a diet of maggot bread and sewer soup the whole time I was stuck in here! Now I realized I had to get out of this prison or whatever you would like to call it. I sprinted over to the door, almost slamming my head against it, and tried my best yanking the door open. To my dismay, the door was locked. I probably should have guessed that. Well it was worth a shot. I crumpled up next to the door half crying. I couldn't stand it in here! I needed to figure a way out! I just had to escape from this prison! Then I thought of it. The next time the air starts to get stuffy and warm I will try my best to stay awake and right when they walked in with the food I would make a run for the door and escape through the nearest exit I saw! Of course there were a lot of flaws in my plan, but I couldn't think of anything better. The trouble spots were of course getting past the people, and not letting the heat get to me. I also had to pretend like I looked asleep to trick them into opening the door just incase they had hidden video cameras anywhere. It was going to be tough but hey, anythings better than staying in this cell. I waited for who knows how long to feel the heat. I kept thinking that I felt it, but I never really did. For hours and hours I paced the room in circles. If there really was a video camera watching me I wonder what they would be saying. I'm starting to get really hungry, I can feel the hollow in my stomach growing bigger every step I take. Maybe I should sit down now. I crawled my way to the wooden bed and sat down. I started chewing on my nails, trying to keep my mind off the thought of food. In that very moment I felt it. The weird sensation that puts me to sleep. My eyes started to droop, my legs started to feel heavy. Before I gave into the feeling that was tugging me to lay down I stood up abruptly, remembering my escape plan. For the next few minutes or so I tried my absolute hardest to stay awake. I didn't want it to look like I was though, or they might never come in. So I sat back down partly closing my eyes and acted as if I was yawning. The heat kept getting warmer and warmer, until I felt as if I kept my eyes open any longer they would fall out. I still had a pretty big chance of staying awake even though my eyes couldn't stay open. I felt the air temperature reach its hottest, and most relaxing point. To my surprise it then started getting cooler. But not much cooler, it was still muggy. A flicker of hope raced up and down my body. I could survive this heat, I could escape! And right at that moment I felt it. A weird sensation really, it was like a mist of some sort. Not the cold kind of mist that you feel when you walk by a waterfall. It was the most loveliest feeling I had ever felt touch me. The room started smelling of sweet flowers, the room suddenly didn't seem as horrible as it had before, and I could have sworn I saw some type of flower fall down to the ground. I raised my arm to look at the moist that was building up on my skin It didn't exactly look like a pure white water drop, instead it had the look of a sunset orange, and a light pink color mixed together. I lowered my head to get a sniff of it and right when I did I had no self control at all I fell onto my bed looking straight up at the ceiling. But to my surprise the fan wasn't moving as slowly as it had been before. It was circling very rapid now letting out some sort of water all around the room. Then it entered my mind. That was the strange mist that was making me fall asleep and feel so comfortable and relaxed! With that in my head I passed out, entering a deep slumber.
