ELLA'S POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I was bouncing in my seat, wondering what was going to happen. It was Cole's birthday today, and i had a feeling that it wouldn't be a good one. I had planned a surprise party for him, something that i knew he wouldn't like, but i needed to do this. I just had to get him to Richard's, which would be easy. I had to talk to Richard after school anyway, and it would be easy since Gabriel was picking us all up to head over there. Jules shot me another look, but i didn't care, i just wanted to start this thing so that i would know what was going to happen.

When the bell rang, i was the first from my seat and at the car with Gabriel. He gave me an all knowing look, but i ignored it as i climbed in the front seat after Katie who wanted to sit next to her man. It worked in my favor though, because once we stopped, i was about to jump out of the car and hurry to where i knew Richard was. I didn't see Lina, which was strange. Ever since she had mentioned me meeting David, it was like she avoiding me. Right now, i didn't mind, one less thing to worry about.

"Hey there, Ella..." Richard trailed off as i shut his office door. His door was never shut unless it was important, and this was. "Ella?"

"I know i should have come here sooner and told you what was going on, but i was afraid to," i started and he narrowed his eyes. "Cole's starting to end up like his father, and i don't know what to do."

"You can't possibly mean...." again he trailed off, seeing my face. "The age is twenty-seven."

"I know, but there haven't been any black outs in about two weeks, and i'd rather we'd be here if something happens," i said, sitting down heavily. "The only cure is death, by fire."

"I know," Richard said, but i saw a look on his face that i couldn't quite pinpoint, but it disappeared before i could get it. "We'll figure something out." He sighed. "Why don't you go get ready, give Cole a reason to hang onto his life."

"Richard?" i asked, watching him. "Why aren't you freaking out?"

"The investigators that haven't been checking in, they're alive, or at least they are for the moment. They've in jested blood, and are starting to go crazed. This isn't the first time i've dealt with this," he murmured and i nodded, standing. "Completely off topic, have you seen Lina?"

"What do you mean?"

"She hasn't shown up at work for the past two weeks," he said. "She didn't leave any note, she just stopped coming."

"No, i haven't seen her," i said, and i was beginning to understand why i hadn't seen her. She wasn't avoiding me, she was gone. "I'm going to go get ready."

"Alright," he said, reaching for his phone.

COLE'S POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I sighed and tried to keep an ear out for Ella as i stood in front of the mirror. I needed to talk to IT.

"Alright, what's the plan, devil?" I hissed and the dark chuckle filled my head.

"I talked to my handler, and he said that you have until Saturday, midnight with her. When you leave, you go to the pack house down the beach. She knows what's going on, and she knows the only way to kill us, my kind, is to burn us. Be ready to face the heat."

"I have tonight and tomorrow," i sighed, realizing that my time was very limited. "I'll keep to my end of the deal."

"Good, now i will leave and not be in your mind until midnight, at which time, you will lose control of your body. You fight me, you will lose...everything."
