The repetitive tapping of Paxton's nails against his wooden desk, after a while, began to drive me insane. His method for studying was quite ridiculous; having a parter to learn with, yet never having the slightest conversation until he had absorbed as much information as he felt was a little more than necessary. I, on the other hand, was just there for a sort of moral support. I did not need to study more about alchemy as it was by far my favourite (and best) subject, Paxton however, seemed to be struggling.
"Here, please just let me help."
" No. I can get this by myself, I've memorized almost every combination to all elixirs and potions that will be featured for our exam" he replies. "I'm just giving it a once over."
I take the book. It's an old book, leather bound with gold edged pages that were falling out in several places, a good textbook mind you not, used by the greatest generations.
"Recipe for an Elixir of Heroism?"
He raises his finger as he begins to speak, then lowers it, snatching the book and muttering words that were barely audible.
He had some work to do, so, I let myself out into the misty trails of town.
It was dark now, though my house was just a short distance away from Paxton's it was alright. I turn as I'm walking away, taking in his cute little home, the one I wished I had.
There's many homes in town that many different beings idolize. Paxton's home is not one of those homes for most, but for me, it is. His home was built in a small cave, grass and moss growing in the rock over top, making it look like part of the ground. With its grand wooden doors, handcrafted by his great grandfather, the place never looses its mesmerizing look.
The Valley of Abingail is beautiful. It has been my families home for generations, and it is where I plan to raise my family and hopefully, where they plan to raise theirs. Middle Town is full of small shops and the surrounding area, houses, either on their own or build into nature. The highlight of our town was our world renounce school, located beautifully on the highest mountain top, so high it's hidden in the clouds. Tomorrow will be my last day of study school before heading to the institution that will home me and teach me the greatest of skills."Are you ready for your tests tomorrow?" Mother asks upon my entrance to home.
"As ready as I will ever be."
"Maybe brush up on blacksmith a smidge tonight, Astrid, everything else appears to be in order" she advises.
So I do.
Tomorrow is the day. Last day in study school before emerging on dozens of quests and learning so much more information. Tomorrow is the day I will start a great journey with new beings and new opportunities.
Tomorrow, my life will start.
