You were in the hospital room beside your boyfriend, harry bedside. He just came from surgery and they don't know if he's going to make it. He looked up at you with those adoring eyes you loved and spoke in a scratchy voice from the lack of water, "Just in case I don't make it out of the hospital..." he reached beside him and revealed a key in his hand, "I want you to take this and if I don't make it, it opens a drawer to my desk...there's something in there for you." tears stinging the brim of your eyes, "Don't say that Harry, your gonna make it." before you knew it he reached for your hand and entwined your fingers, then he whispered," I love you (y/n)." in a soft and weak voice. Then machine he was hooked up to made a loud beep sound and the line went flat. You were pushed out by the doctor's and nurses. You crawled into a ball in the floor and watch the doctors flood his room trying to bring him back. Your world seem blank with him gone. You could no longer see the happiness, you no longer had hope in your eyes, everything drifted by like a feather flowing through the breeze. Everything went in slow motion.
2 days later
You took the key and unlocked the drawer to his desk. You slowly opened it afraid of what it's contents would reveal. When you looked inside the drawer you saw a folded paper with Harry's handwriting on it. You took the note and slowly unfolded it. Leaning against the desk as you read the note.
Dear (y/n),
I wrote this note because I love you. I think about you 24/7 but what if I end up hurting you in the end. I couldn't live with myself if that would happen but you smiled that smile that makes me fall in love with you over and over again and told me it would be ok. You've been through a lot and you fought through it like it was nothing. That's why I love you. Your gorgeous eyes as they light up when we sit underneath the stars, your laugh that always made me happy when I heard it, I love you because you take time to try and understand everyone. You don't leave people stranded, You never judge someone by how they look, You make friends with everyone no matter what they've done in life. You forgive, you can make me smile on my worst of days, there's not a second that passes by that I'm not thinking of you. Most of all I love your smile. It brightens my day, when you smile it's like all my worries have faded away and all that matters is that your happy and that smile will stay on your face forever. I promised you that no matter what I did I would make sure that smile stayed on your face til there are no more days left for us. I'm so sorry for making a promise I couldn't keep I know that your reading this note because I didn't make it but one day we'll be together again. Just promise me to keep smiling.

When you finished the note you noticed it was practically covered in tears. You pulled the note to your chest and mumbled, "I promise Harry." to yourself. You smiled for him and closed your tear soaked eyes.
