Harry's POV

Taking a banana from its basket on the table, I am about to walk out the door when mom calls me. "Harry!" she shouts.

"Yea mom?" I say back and she hurriedly runs down the stairs with something in her hand. I raise my eyebrows questioningly and she says "Close your eyes, dear."

As my eyes are closed I feel something being wrapped around my wrist. It is heavy since I can feel some weight.

"Open." mom says and when I open my eyes, I see there is a simple black watch with twelve dots that replace the numbers and two ticking hands pointing at two of the twelve dots. 6:00 it reads.

"It's a present. For you. Have fun at school, dear." She beams, obviously proud of the very expensive gift. Dad comes up behind her and smiles brightly at me. "Have fun, kiddo." he says.

I nod at him and hug my mom. "Thanks." I say. "I love it."

After giving my mom a kiss on the cheek and my dad a good-natured hug, I wave and walk out the door.

As my foot steps onto the concrete floor of my doorstep, my mom says from behind me, "Take care of Rose, Harry. Since you know her and she will be new at your school. Show her around and walk with her to her classes." "Okay." I answer and close the door behind me.

I walk towards my bus stop and freeze about 20 yards away when I see her flowing brown hair and petite, delicate body.

She is wearing a simple white t-shirt with a plain navy blue skirt, almost matching my outfit of a white shirt and blue jeans.

She has her small hands wrapped around the straps of her huge backpack and she slowly tilts her toes forward and back while waiting for the bus.

"Hey." I say gently, making sure not to scare her. She turns her head and sees me, immediately putting a smile on her face. "Hi." she says.

I walk up next to her until we're about a foot apart. "You're here already?" I say. "The bus doesn't come for around another 10 minutes."

"Then why are you here already?" she asks innocently. I look at her and blush, not knowing what to give her as my answer. "Same as you. Making sure I don't miss it."

She giggles and I can't help but look at her face to see the glint of sparkles in her eyes and the fullness of her pink-tinted lips.

"Haven't seen you for a couple of days." I say, changing the subject. "Yea. But I have seen your parents a couple of times this week." she replies.

"I can imagine. They love going to your house from what I can tell. They must really like your parents' company. And yours too, of course." I say.

"Maybe. But they couldn't possibly like them more than they like her. They are all that my parents ever talk about. They are very kind-hearted people."

"Yea. I'm very lucky to have them." I say just as the bus pulls up in front of us.

"Well, looks like it decided to come a bit earlier today." I say as we climb in. "Good thing we were here early too." Rose says with a sly smile. "Agreed." is all I say.

Rose sits in the second row and I contemplate whether or not I should sit next to her or not.

She looks up at me expectantly, almost looking like she wanted me to sit there.

Just as I am about to place my bookbag on the floor so I can sit, the bus unexpectedly lurches forward, causing me to lose my balance and fall right on top of the seat.
