Kimiyoi (one shot)

( don't question the title just roll with it, modern au as well)
Kimizuki and yoichi were out in a walk in the camp ground, it was a beautiful day partly cloudy but fairly sunny they were chatting about school which was about to start in a few weeks, the campground was quite, it was a Tuesday so they would expect it to be. Hand in hand they followed the trail between the mountain and lake, yoichi let go of kimis hand and ran forward twirling on his toes, kimi started to chuckle till he saw a boulder tipping off the mountain, right above yoichis head he started to panicked as he started to fall not able to get his feet to move. Yoichi saw his face turn pale, saw the panic in his eyes he looked up to see the Boulder falling down at him,he froze paralyzed from fear his eyes started to tear up as he screamed, the boulder getting closer, kimi finally found the will to move his feet he ran to Yoichi and pushed him out of the way only to be hit by the tumbling rock. Yoichi opened his eyes looking around and finding the strength to stand till yoichi's eyes locked on the body crippled on the ground. Yoichi's eyes widened with fear, tears welling up his vision blurring as a pool of blood started to form around kimizukis head, he panicked, his legs turning to jello and he reached out and touched the hair of his beloved. He quickly fumbled to grab his cell phone he called 911, but the phone only responded with 'no service' he threw his phone full force against a rock "WHAT IS THE POINT OF YOU!!!" He screamed as his phone shattered. He took a second to think the nearest place to call was at the camp ground hosts trailer, he tried to stand up tears still blurring his vision he fell again, he tried again wiping the tears from his eyes he started to run down the path, it was a 15 minute walk he thought it would be better to run, tears clouding his eyes again he tripped over a tree root tumbling on the grouch scraping and bruising "damnitt!" He yelled as he got back up and continued to run, when he finally got to the host trailer he was covered in blood scrapes and dirt, tear streaks down his cheeks, he pounded on his door screaming "HELP HELP PLEASE OH DEAR GOD PLEASE HELP"
"Dear lord boy what" the man opened the door his eyes widened at the sight of him
"What happened to you?!"
"It's not me its... It's m-my friend" he choked up from the tears
"What about your friend" his wife rushed to yoichi's side and started to dry his tears but it was no use
"He's about... 15 minutes down"
He started balling at the image in his head of kimi
"He got-"
"Got?"
"He got... Hit by a boulder" he buried his face in his hand crying as the woman's hugged him and rubbed his back, the man ran to the trailer and called the rescue people.
"911 what's your emergency"
"There's a boy-" he paused "what's he look like!" He shouted at yoichi who flinched
"Pink hair, glasses,"
"Alright?" The operator sounded confused
"He's about 15 miles down the trail from seraph camping grounds, he's gravely injured please send help immediately"
"Alright, we will send help as soon as possible"
Yoichi and the man walked to where kimizuki laid, yoichi ran up to the body and pushed the Boulder off he picked up his head and rested it in his lap. "Please please be ok" he said before breaking down. A helicopter landed not to long from then, they took kimizuki from yoichi and into the chopper before taking off, yoichi just sat there broken with blackness surrounding him tears streaming down his cheeks which had turned pale and his stomach turning 'this was all my fault' he thought wiping his eyes. The host tapped his shoulder, he jumped and shook his head lightly "yes?"
"Come on we should get back"
Yoichi nodded and followed him back he couldn't even tell if tears were still rolling down his cheeks though they were. Later that evening, the host and hostess didn't want him sleeping I. His tent by himself for fear of what happened today he might harm himself. He stayed in there trailer, the hostess made him some hot coco and set it on the table, he had stopped crying, mainly because he had blanked his mind he just sat there with a blanket draped around his shoulders he took the class of hot coco and held onto it he looked down and saw his face, covered in dirt with marks from where tears were falling down his cheek. He looked at the hostess "is there a shower I can use?" He said quietly,He had a fresh set of clothes in his bag they brought over, she nodded and showed him to the bathroom of the camper "thank you" he said quietly again before entering the shower and washing off quickly the dirt stinging the scrapes from falling, and the soap stinging it as well, he smiled as he thought of kimizuki kissing his wounds like the dork he is but then bursting into tears from the thought of him never being able to see that sweet face again, he turned off the water and dries off his face and hair, he dried the rest of him off, he grabbed his bag, only to see the camera he had brought with them he started to flip through the pictures on the digital screen, he laughed at the goofy faces as tears hit the camera screen "I'm sorry..." He whispered, he put the camera away and put on new clothes, he opened the door slightly before wiping his tear and walking out, "thank you" he tried to smile, the hostess smiled back and nodded as he sat down and sipped from the hot coco, and later he laid on there sons old bed it was surprisingly soft for a camping bed he pulled the thick blankets over him and slowly fell asleep with tears soaking the pillow, that night the scene played in his head over and over, every time he saw kimi about to get hit he would wake up breathing heavily he sat up putting his head in his hands and crying.
The next morning he woke up again seeing that it was day light he left a note and headed out without waking them the note read "I'm going home today, take good care, thank you for helping me out

He packed up the tent and all of his things and put them in the truck trying to keep his mind blank but his hands still shaking, he got everything in the truck and hopped into the front seat trying to start the car, his hands were so shaky and unbalanced that he kept missing the key hole. He banged on the steering wheel and rested his head against the wheel, "please oh please just lET ME GO HOME!!" He screamed, he breathed in and tried again drying his tears he started the car and drove home, the entire way he didn't turn on the radio he just stared blankly at the road watching as the pavement rolled under his tuck. When he made it home and pulled into the driveway of his apartment, he walked in not even bothering to unpack and went to his room and turned on the radio "this just in local boy hospitalized from freak camping accident" he fumbled and turned it off as quickly as he could feeling his fists ball and his eyes well up "yes and it's all because his stupid boyfriend couldn't do anything to scar himself so he had to be the hero, oh yes he had to save me cause I couldn't!!! Oh... It's all my fault!" He sat on the floor curled in a ball, his stomach tuning and his head feeling lighter making him dizzy. He awoke on his floor moment later to his home phone ringing he sat up and rubbed his eyes walking sluggishly to the phone and picking it up "yes?"
"Yoichi saotome?"
"That's me"
"Hello this is a nurse at st. Venera hospital"
"Oh" he bit his tongue and acted strong holding his breath, preparing for bad news
"Well it looks like kimizuki has sustained a lot of damage but he will make it" she said
"Oh thank the lords" he said tears rolling down his cheeks
"Visiting hours are 1-3, though we aren't sure when he will be awake"
"It's ok, I will stop by tomorrow"
He hung up the phone and laid in bed tears streaming down his face 'thank you thank you thank you, your ok' he thought as he fell asleep.
The next day at 1pm he went to the hospital and checked in as a visitor, he went to the intensive care floor and ran into the room, kimizuki wasn't awake yet but yoichi saw the love of his life still breathing and that made him happy. He stayed by his bed side for an hour or so before the nurses asked him to leave. He did ask they asked, the visits happen every day for approximately two weeks before one day about as the nurses were going to ask him to leave, yoichi heard him wake up, "please, please let me stay" he cried, the nodded and walked off the other way, yoichi ran back in and hugged him lightly and carfully because  kimi was still hurt, he smiled "your awake!!" He cried tears of happiness and kissed his cheek, kimizuki looked down at him harshly "who are you?" He spoke. Yoichi's heart shattered, amnesia wasn't a surprise after that his but he couldn't help but fall, he let go and slowly stammers back a few steps "it's me yoichi," he breathed to calm down "I'm your boyfriend we were on a camping trip when this happened, we have been together for about two and a half years now"
"I don't have a boyfriend" he said harshly,
"o-ok, uhm I know you may not remember me but..." He started to break "maybe if I take you to some of our favorite places you'll remember"
"No"
"What..?"
"No."
"E-eh? What do you mean no" he held back tear by holding his tongue.
"I don't want to. For all I know your some creep who just like me and is trying to give me false feelings"
"C-come one kimi" his voice started to waver "c-can't you f-feel it in you somewhere, that I w-was part of your life?"
"No"
Yoichi fell back in his chair and started to cry, he would never see kimizuki smile at him again, never feel his arms around him and never get to hold his hand for the rest of his life. "Please leave" he demanded, yoichi looked up at him "please kimi", he pulled out a few photos he was looking at of them he set them on the desk and left before breaking down in the hall, the nurses helped him out he sat in his car for a few minutes knowing he shouldn't drive like this, kimi looked at the pictures, they were him, they didn't look photoshopped, maybe he was telling the truth, he kept looking at them 'maybe I'll give him a chance' 'no I can't he's probably just some lunatic!" He argued with himself until he gave himself a headache and latex down, yoichi finally calmed down enough to drive home, he laid in bed and didn't sleep at all he couldn't sleep knowing he would never see kimi again.
The next day yoichi heard the phone ring as he sat in his chair, he got up shakily and picked up the phone, he dropped it but heard the voice "hello?"
"H-hi" he said picking up the phone shakily. The operator explained that last night kimi was released to go home, but has no one to take him and asked if he would, yoichi knew it would hurt but he agreed because he still loved kimi so he would take care of him. He took a shower after last night he needed it and got dressed, he looked in the mirror, he smiled lightly at the sticky note kimi left him a few weeks into them dating
" you look great
Love you"
Is what it read, he sighed and took it down 'you can no longer love me I know' he went out to his car and got in driving there when he got there he saw kimi with crutches and a wheelchair "hello" yoichi said as he got out of the car, no response kimi got into the car and stayed quite as they drove away, after 5-10 minutes he spoke "yoichi?"
"Y-yes?"
"Take me to those places" kimi continued to look forward straight faced, yoichi smiled lightly and teared up lightly 'I MIGHT GET TO SEE HIM SMILE AT ME AGAIN' he internally screamed, he did as kimi asked he would park the car at each place and carefully help kimi in to the wheelchair pushing him around pointing to things and talking about what they used to do, the first was a cafe "we used to make crazy orders here and then mess with the people saying 'I didn't order this?' " yoichi laughed but kimi stayed straight faced "do you remember"
Kimi shook his head yoichi sighed sadly and took him place to place till they got to the last place, the camp ground, he still remembered nothing, yoichi though, 'what about my apartment'
"One last place ok?"
Kimi nodded and got back into the car yoichi drives and parked at his apartment building and walked in with kimi "d-do you remember this place?" Kimi didn't answer he just wheeled around, after a bit he came back "sorry no I don't" yoichi couldn't take it he tried all he could he kissed him on the cheek and went over to the bad sitting on the edge whispering to himself "this was all my fault all my fault he will never remember who I am"
Kimi saw him crying and remembered what the nurse told him "if you want to gain your memories back you can, we have a procedure, but it's dangerous" he didn't care at this point seeing yoichi in this much pain, he had to remember what happened, he politely asked yoichi to take him to the hospital, yoichi nodded and smiled lightly and falsely, while the were driving he explained to yoichi what he was going to do, yoichi at first refused to let him but kimi talked him into it "are you sure"
"I have to know why your hurting"
"B-but"
"I have to"
Yoichi nodded and watched as the nurses took him into the hospital yoichi waited in the waiting room till they were done and he was awake, he walked in nervously and smiled "kimizuki?"
"Who are you"
Damnitt it didn't work he teared up
"Who is kimizuki?"
'Oh dear lord he doesn't even remember who he is' yoichi sat down putting his head in his hands he stopped crying and walked up to him "you are kimizuki, I am you boyfriend, two years ago you Asked me out"
"O-oh?"
Yoichi smiled "but this is a new chapter in your life" he held his hand and looked at kimi "and you don't have to...remember me" he started to cry lightly while forcing a smile at kimi, he brought his memory book so when he awoke they could laugh and look at pictures he took it out of his bag and set it on the table next to kimi, then went up to him "goodbye, it's time for me to leave this place"
Kimi just looked at him confused as tears rolled down the boys face, yoichi left the room and went to the elevator, kimi picked up the book looking through the pictures "I... Am ... Kimizuki"
He flipped through the pictures as his eyes started to water "and... He" he rubbed his thumb over yoichi's face in the picture "he was the... Love... Of my life" memories started to come back. Tears fell and hit the pages as he red a not on the memory book yoichi wrote to him, the last sentence hits "and I would rather die than live without you in my life" he cried as he remembered yoichi telling him he meant it that he would die if kimi was gone "nurse! Nurse!" He cried
"Yes kimizuki?"
"He went into the elevator right?"
"Yes"
"which way did it go?"
"Uhm it went up I think"
"Please... Please save him he's going to jump"
Kimi was right as the nurses ran yoichi was at the top floor climbing to the roof "goodby my love" he smiled lightly as he got to the roof and shakily walked over to the edge, tears rolling down his cheeks he shakily climbed up the edge and stood ready to jump "y-you won't need me anymore" he heard nurses running up to him he turned around when they got to the roof "we were going to get married" he smiled and fell off the building, screams from the people were heard as he fell everything went quiet and he felt like he was floating till he past kimis window he heard him shout no the terror in his eyes everything was in slow motion 'he remembered?' He flailed but seconds later his body was crippled on the ground people rushed to help but yoichi was gone, a pool of blood around his body.
