Orion's POV.

I nearly cried when I saw the look on Scarlet's as I rejected her, seeing her so close to me was nearly killing me as I knew we couldn't be together. The Reason; I'm a traitor to my own kind, I might have a slight injury from the ''attack'' where Brendan found and saved me, but I cannot allow my masters to know that I have a mate, not only will they kill her but the will then use me as a lab rat to figure out how and why we get mates and what happens once the connection between our wolves are severed. So to be poked and prodded so that they can find out what makes us tick, why we can shift into wolves and why we are superhumans, isn't one of the best ways to live. I was already part of the testers as they put it, so the know about my wolf genes and my extra abilities as a wolf.

I looked around this small place called a house as Brendan and saw it was a very cozy place, with pictures of Scarlet and Brendan together in almost all the pictures I could see, but there was only one that i could see that had their parents in it. you could see where Brendan and his sister got their looks from, Brendan was almost a carbon copy of his dad, same black hair, same blue eyes, same facial features, build everything between the two of them.

Scarlet looked like both of her parents, got her mom's green grey eyes, same red hair, but got her nose and mouth features from her dad, which is kinda weird.

the house screamed safety and I felt like an even worse person than before, knowing that someday I'll have to rat them out and have them captured only so that my freedom is guaranteed or else my masters would hunt me and skin me alive, I've seen them do it to others that disobeyed them in some way.

I looked down at the phone in my hands as it vibrated and saw that I had a message from my masters, I contemplated not looking at the message to see what i had to do for them, but i knew that if i didn't answer them, I would be slaughtered.

so i opened the letter, and read it.

Where are you? We need to plan the next attack. I expect you to be here by midnight and no later. We know where you are so don't bother running away. We WILL always FIND you!!

I snapped the phone shut as i looked at the door Scarlet just went through and sighed. I loved the fact that I had a mate, especially if she was a beautiful as she was, but I had to think about her safety and everyone else's in this house. My best friend was on the verge of being captured, my mate taken with them to be tested, poked and prodded. I couldn't handle it, I had to find a way to escape from their clutches.

I felt the bullet wound heal up, slowly but surely making the muscles stronger. I wondered what the guy that was with her had to do with her. He had an odd scent to him and i just could place it. I knew he was not human for he looked to have to sharp senses.

Brendan came into the room and sat on the opposite couch looking at me.

"I can't believe you did it to her, my sister for crying out loud. You do know what is going to happen to the both of you, right? You're going to die. I don't want that to happen to either of you, she is my sister and you are my best friend. I want to know the real reason behind the rejection, and don't come spewing that shit about how you are going to die, blah, blah, blah. I can see the wound for myself and its almost healed. So speak up." He told me.

"I ..."

Before I could even start with an excuse, I heard I loud rumbling, snarling, growling coming from outside, where Scarlet was. We ran to the door to see what was happening and as we opened the door, a wolf went balastic breaking down the door and throwing us apart. I quickly shifted ignoring the ppain in my thigh as i pounded on the rogues coming at us from all sides.

After about an hour most of the rogues were killed off and we were once again, bloody and bruised, hopping into the house. I looked around around to see if i could find Scarlet when I saw the guy sitting next to a wolf, its head on his lap as he stroked the fur.

"Oh, no!!" I heard Brendan whisper.
