I don't know how but, that night I ended up sneaking out of the house with Laila. I'm standing at the back of the house waiting for her, she had to go back inside to get something. So, while shes taking her sweet time I decide to explore a bit. I walk around, and see small fireflies high in the air, I climb the tallest tree in the yard and close my eyes to try to imagine what it feels like to be so small, and carefree. I step off the branch that I'm balanced on and begin to hover midair, my wings making minimal movement, so they don't disturb the lightening bugs.
"Shit, Lucy. When did you learn to fly?!" The sudden outburst disturbs me, and I start to fall. I try to regain my concentration, but I can't, not with the ground moving so fast toward me, well I guess it would be I towards it. So, I tuck into a ball and try to soften the impact, but it only slightly works.
Brushing myself off, I notice that it wasn't Laila that had distracted me, it was the other boy, if only I could remember his name. Laila slips back out of the house. "It looks more like you went back to get a someone not a something..."
She only shrugs in response.
I appraise the boy, and he seems to look like a male version of Laila, the same dark auburn hair, deep green eyes, and very light brown skin tone, granted he's a few inches taller than she is and has a slightly more pronounced jaw, but that's about it. "I'm sorry, i don't seem to remember your name, could you remind me of it?" I ask
His face fell instantly, "Oh," I feel bad automatically, "I'm Kyle, Laila's twin"
