Chapter 1: The Third Floor Bedroom

It all began when someone left the window open. The window in the third floor bedroom. The window in the third floor bedroom in the house on the edge of a hill. The window in the third floor bedroom in the house on the edge of hill at the end of the lane on the outskirts of Broadmoore Village. The Broadmoore Village is just like any small town. There are shops for tourists, not that there are many; there are grocery stores, and gas stations, dentists, and doctors offices. Although the roads are old and pebbly, the rest of the town keeps up the modern-day look. All the buildings are freshly painted every six months, the windows are renewed every now and then, and there are street lights that illuminate a block with only one bulb. There are exceptions, however.

They still grow crops like they did in the centuries ago, and dress as though they were in the Victorian times. The town itself is very quiet and every day there would only be about five cars rumbling down the roads at a time. You could say Broadmoore Village is an interesting town, one where whispers travel fast.
Up the hill, and down the lane, onto the roof and through the window. Silent steps like floating flies and a CLASH, a BANG, a CREAK, a SNAP, and back out into the night. That night was when the first robbery had occurred in Broadmoore Village. In the following three weeks, all of the crops had died and the most essential living supplies had been stolen. But most notably people were dropping dead everywhere, and their souls were being sucked from their bodies as though an invisible tornado had come along and demolished them. It was... a disturbing situation, to say the least.
