I turned on the radio and started humming along to the song. I couldn’t identify the words, but it had a very catchy tune. When I arrived at the address Cole had given me, I had to make sure I was at the right place.
It was the exact same place as in my vision. I could tell it had a lot of rooms and a very long hallway. I was scared to enter, but I had to. I slowly dragged myself out of the car and into the scary building.
I didn’t know where I was supposed to wait for him so I stood in the driveway until I saw a shiny red sports car. Great, he was a little rich boy.
He dragged me inside of the scary house and it was just as bad as I imagined. It was the same as in my vision. There were the same screams and wails of torture, but it didn’t seem unusual.
“Start talking Cole.” I said, aggravated.
“Okay, just listen.” He said. What was with people thinking I didn’t listen? I decided just to shut up this time and not bring it up. “Okay, this is going to sound crazy, but I live here along with all my brothers and sisters. We’re demons. All of us have been released from death for doing something memorable in our human lives.”
I wondered what he had done memorable in his human life, but as I promised, no talking so I forced myself to keep quiet and listen.
“Like always, I was hungry, I had to feed off something so I just decided to go to town and find some unlucky person. I found you and decided I would just end your life quick and painless. But you kept fighting. You wouldn’t back down. I couldn’t just let someone like that die, but you already had.”
Wow, he just killed people for a living. The moans and shrieks were really getting disturbing now. It was really scaring me. I couldn’t help but inch closer to Cole to protect me if someone went crazy and tried to eat me.
“I convinced them to keep trying, but they said you were gone. I went down to the Underworld and told them about you, and how you couldn’t die. He agreed and set your soul free. The doctors were so shocked.”
This was all way too much to take in. I tried to run away from Cole, but he was faster. I bolted and used every bit of my energy to get to my car.
I turned the key and luckily this time the engine decided to start. I slammed on the gas pedal and more than tripled the speed limit. I was going almost 200 kilometers per hour. I felt so free, I tried my hardest to get back home, until I crashed and felt blood, everywhere.
I kept blacking out then coming back to consciousness. I heard people saying “None of them are going to make it.” And “What was she thinking? Somebody call 9-1-1!” I couldn’t concentrate on anything, I kept losing my focus. I knew I was going to die, I just felt so guilty about ending the life of someone innocent.
When I awoke in the hospital, I could tell it was going to be my last time to ever wake up. A nurse walked into my room with tears in her eyes with Cole following closely behind. I was too groggy to object, I was going to die anyways.
The nurse came forwards and said that the other people involved in the accident were dying and it was impossible for them to live, like me. “They have a daughter too, you know.” said the nurse.
“Tell her I say sorry, for ruining her life. I was being a complete idiot and now I ended somebody’s life.”
The nurse nodded, her eyes still watering. I closed my eyes and let myself be engulfed in darkness.
“Where is the daughter of the man and women that died, just please carry out her last request.” said Cole.
“I can’t do that.” Stuttered the nurse “She just died.”
“What?” asked Cole, confused.
“The people she hit were her parents, they just died as well. There is no way of getting them back, and there’s no way of bringing Allie back either. There all gone.”
