Chapter 1
"Braine! Get out of your bed right now!" my mother screamed from down the hall.
Why, why, why can't summer be longer! I yelled in my head. God I detest first days of school...even though I should be extremely happy seeing as today is the first day of my last year in hell. That's right...I am officially a senior! I get out of bed by literally rolling off and begin padding down my hallway towards the bathroom. As I pop in my contacts and begin to wake up, I realize that this year is going to be different year and not just for the better. You see my mother.....the "bitchmonster" I like to call her, decided at the begging of summer that she was going to change some things around. You see I don't have my license yet...and although yes...I am aware that that is extremely lame considering I'm almost 18....I just never quite got around to getting it. So my mom decided that she wasn't going to drive me to school anymore which is...whatever, I'm not going to make a big deal about it but...it does create some problems. Now instead of relying on her to take me I either have to catch the bus, get a ride from a friend or have my dad take me (he lives in another area, parents divorced when I was 8).
"Ugh life can be so cruel." I mumble and start to laugh at my weirdness.
Still in my bathroom I look in the mirror and scrutinize my appearance. You see one thing that's different about me, is the school I go to. I go to Smitherson Academy High School which is 1) all girls 2) uniformed and 3) kind of small; I'm talking about 50 students per grade. Obviously the downer of going to my school is the whole no guys thing...but one thing that I have actually come to like is the uniform. I know most girls would die if they had to wear one but I actually find it makes things a lot easier in the morning. Instead of having to worry about what I'm gonna wear...I just throw on a skirt and shirt and go knowing I'm going to look exactly like everyone else. But this year I'm definitely going to step it up a notch, I continue analyzing myself in the mirror and notice how much older I look since last year. I am 5'6, a little bit bigger than average weight and have long, thick, wavy golden/brown/red hair that flows to the middle of my back, bright green eyes and what people call a rosebud mouth (which is basically just a really small mouth that has a fuller lower lip and a thinner upper). I've always been told that I'm really beautiful but up until recently I never quite believed it. Now however I'm starting to enjoy my looks and well...use them to my advantage Lol. I quickly brush my teeth, apply some mascara and lip balm pull on my shirt, button my skirt, slide into my white vans, grab my beloved worn dark brown leather jacket and run down the stairs.
"Bye mom!"
"Bye sweetie, have a good first day! I have a feeling you're going to love this year...senior year always has the possibility of bringing changes to one's life."
I look at her quizzically "uh...haha I hope. Bye!"
I run outside and there sitting in my driveway is my best friend Lindsey.
"Linds!" I yell with excitement, running up to her window ducking down to see her. Lindsey is the kind of girl you would call extremely petite. She is 5'1, has long dark brown hair and is just altogether small but not in an unhealthy way....just in a "Lindsey" way.
"I thought you said you couldn't pick me up?"
"Well obviously I can," she said smiling and cocking her eyebrow "and... I wanted to surprise you! Were seniors!!!!!" she said laughing. "So...you ready?"
"Sure let's do this." I said flashing a smile. She looked at me and shook her head in disbelief. "You're in a pleasant mood this morning." She said teasingly.
"What? Am I usually unpleasant?" I asked cocking my head in curiosity.
"Only in the mornings." She said jokingly.
