Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been updating like at all, but I promise I'll update soon! This is a story I wrote for my English class. We're reading Epics!
......................................................
One moment the world is swallowing you with bright lights and loud noises. Enveloping you with life and the smiling faces of those around you.
You blink and you're thrown into the dark. Suddenly the faces disappear and a blanket of darkness shrouds the light. The sounds blur together until all that reaches your ears is a steady hum.
Everything is in slow motion for a fraction of a second until the light is pitched back. The sounds become regular and the faces resume smiling and laughing as their owners move accordingly. The world is back as it was.
You blink, and the cycle repeats.
The forest curled around my location to protect me from the outside world. I could see the dark clouds in the distance and it didn't look look like a regular storm just passing by. The demons were closing in on my location and it was a matter of time before they found me. I knew that the barrier Jasper and I had formed was going to be broken someday, I just didn't think it would be this soon.
A breeze blew past and I closed my green eyes to protect them from the dust. 'The summer sun was trying to kill her.' I thought.
It was two in the afternoon when Jasper pulled up in his new mustang convertible. His blue eyes sparkled in the sun and his dark wavy hair was ruffled by the wind.
" Hey! I just picked up Tara. She's at my place, hop in and I'll give you a ride." Jasper said.
" Ok ."
I jumped into his car careful not to hit my head. Jasper laughed and we continued to joke around with each other until we got to his house.
Tara was sitting outside and had Jaspers shaggy, cow of a golden retriever sitting right next to her.
" Tara! " I yelled.
" What's up?" Tara yelled back.
" I don't care! I'm just glad to see you." I jumped out of the car and gave Tara a big hug. I felt the presence of her wings on her back and smiled. She was still safe and sound.
" Girls lets go inside it's hot as hell out here," Jasper said as he walked up the porch with Belle wagging her tail right beside him. " and we have to discuss the coming storms too..." Instantly his face darkened.
We all went inside and we were relieved from the heat from the summer air. I glanced around and noticed that Jasper had picked up his flat from the last time I had been here.
My sunset red hair stuck to my lipgloss and I quickly unstuck the strands. Something cold was pushed on the back of my neck and I gasped before spinning around.
Jasper was innocently holding a can of coke up to me. I grabbed it and shoved him a little bit before he cracked a smile and broke down laughing. Tara joined in, her spiky blonde hair bobbing up and down, and we were all filled with laughter. My stomach was sore by the time the sun had finally set, and Jasper looked out the window towards the gray clouds that were slowly rolling in. His lips were pressed into a thin line and his eyes looked like the ocean just before the tide came in.
" It's about time isn't it?" He asked.
" Yeah, but we can get through it right?"
" Snow, the world is turning darker everyday, and we can't turn that around. Our magic can't keep the demons back forever."
