Your P.O.V:
I smiled at the crowd in front of me as I sang, my voice carrying over the loudspeakers. I was at the San Fransokyo Talent Show, having been persuaded by my friends to enter. I felt myself smile as my nerves faded. My friends had been right, this was fun.
They had begged and begged, telling me I have an amazing voice and I could totally win. I didn't really want to enter, since I'd never really sung in front of people before. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to sing under so much pressure, but had finally given in. Now I was glad I had.
I bowed to the crowd as I finished my song and walked off stage, waving until I was all the way in the wings. My friends engulfed me, their excitement contagious as they exclaimed over how well I had done. I shook them off, "We'll see how well I did soon enough. There's only three contestants left."
A performer walked off the stage and I smiled, "Make that two." My friends chuckled as we walked over to a bench to wait. We chatted for a bit, until the moment we were waiting for arrived.
The announcer called over the loudspeaker, "Alright, San Fransokyo! The last contestant has finished, and the time has come to announce the places. Our judges have made their decisions and I have them here. In third place, we have... Kellana Starcone. Lets give her a big round of applause, everyone!"
The crowd went wild as Kellana came forward to receive her metal. The announcer shook her hand and turned back to the audience, "Second place goes to... Erinnan Fishmel. A nice big round for her, everybody!!!" Erinnan took her metal and stood next to Kellana.
I bit my lip in anticipation as the announcer looked at his last card, "Finally, in first place... ladies and gentleman, I give you... (Y/N) (L/N)!!!" I stared in amazement, frozen to the spot. My friends were yelling at me to go on stage, but I couldn't really hear them. Finally they shoved me onto the stage and I stumbled a little, before mustering up my courage and walking to the announcer's stand.
The announcer smiled and me and shook my hand, "Congratulations, (Y/N)! You were truly amazing with that song!" I nodded, still not really able to believe I had won first place as the golden medal was placed around my neck. I walked stiffly to join the other two, and waited until they were done taking pictures of me. After what seemed like forever, they told me I could go.
I smiled and walked out as quickly as I could, but right before I could leave the building, I was stopped by a hand on my arm. Turning in confusion, I saw a tall man wearing black and dark purple, his black hair neatly parted. His black eyes, probably the low light making them look darker, were glinting with an emotion I couldn't read, but didn't like at all.
He looked me over, his gaze sending shivers of fear down my spine. I tried to pull away, but he only smirked and tightened his grip on my arm, "I wouldn't try that if I were you." His voice dripped with smug malice and I opened my mouth to scream. Before it left my throat, however, his eyes hardened, darkness surrounding me as I slipped into unconsciousness.
<<time skip>>
I woke to a pounding headache, not to mention the rest of me hurting like never before. I groaned, and nearly had a heart attack when I heard instead a low bird cry. I looked slowly down at myself, to find.....
Scarlet feathers. Lots of glowing scarlet feathers. I let out a frightened scream, but all that came out was a loud, high squawk. I started to shake as I stood, feeling both terribly out of place and oddly comfortable. Gingerly, I stretched out my arms, to find that they weren't arms, but wings. My head felt funny too, and I knew without having to look that I had a tail.
I was shaking in earnest now, and I saw a feather drop from my breast, falling gracefully to the floor, where it shimmered and glowed. I stared at it in shock, terrified of what was happening to me.
A loud creak caused me to look up quickly. There stood the man who captured me, smirking as he towered over my small frame, "Well, you certainly did take well to your new form, my pet. You will make quite the impressive addition to my garden."
I hissed at him, feeling my feathers fluff up at his words. He merely laughed, "Oh, don't like the thought, do you? Well, my lovely Firebird, you don't have a choice in the matter. If you disobey me, the consequences will be... severe." His eyes hardened and I shook in fear, knowing that I did not want to find out what he would do to me.
He saw me cower, and his smirk widened in triumph, "Now, I will tell you what your task will be. Land on my arm, Firebird." He held out his arm, his tone commanding and threatening me. I looked at it, unsure of how to fly. His eyes narrowed dangerously and he twitched his fingers towards me. I let out a screech as I was lifted up by dark purple, almost black glittering light and placed forcefully on his arm. He laughed, and I pulled my wings in, huddling down as he strode out of the dark room and into the sunlight.
Never in my life had I felt so helpless, so trapped. I was terrified of what this man would do to me, and I knew, deep down, that I wasn't going to like it. I had been kidnapped, and turned into a bird of legend, and I was all alone.
