I, a young girl in the agricultural side, referred to by the nobles as the poor side, of the city of Ravenwood awoke in my bed of hay in the wooden hut in which my family lived to a burning sensation. I gazed at the doorway that connected the room I share with my younger brother, Kyle, and the living area and saw with great fright the burning fire that had consumed all of my house but my room. I jumped out of my hay bed and rushed to my brother, gave him a shake until he woke up just enough to listen to my plea to let me carry him. He slowly crawled onto my back and was woken the rest of the way up by the singe of fire on his skin as he was hurriedly carried through the fire and out of the hut.
"Ellie, what will happen to Father and Mother?" said the black-haired boy who was all of the age of eight, to his tall older sister with hair as red as the fire that had just completely ruined all life as they knew it.
I never answered. I just gazed at our house being burnt to a crisp. As the daylight arrived, Kyle could just make out a tear run down his elder sister's face and he knew that he would never see his father or mother again. Five hours passed until the hut stopped burning and it was safe to attempt to locate the source of the fire. Kyle and I spent a half a day searching for the source when they finally found the remnants of a candleholder and a stub of wax knocked over on the rug by the entranceway. Someone had knocked it over and had not realized it was still lit, until it was too late for anything to be done. This was when Uncle made his appearance.
