"Okay class," Mr Bourke's think Irish accent speaks "today we will be starting a project on....Civil wars. This project will determine your final history grade of the year. You can research any civil war you want but the requirements are simple: a presentation, a visual demonstration such as art or a reenactment, an essay on your chosen civil war and you have to make something of your own, whether a painting, or a miniature scene, it's up to you. I'm giving you 5 months to do this. You have to do this in pair and I will be picking."

I quickly scribbled down the last of the notes I'd been taking and was hoping I would be paired with someone good.

"Michelle you are with Zoey. Tiffany you are with Steven. Nadine you are with Thomas..." My heart practically stopped when I heard who I'd been partnered with. Tom Jackson, the school bad boy.

"Sir, I can't be working with the biggest geek in the school!" Tom protested.

"Even though I should be offended by that comment he's right sir. I can't work with him." I joined.

"I don't want to want to hear another word from either of you and you will work together with no objection. Is that clear?"

"Yes sir." We both muttered together.

"Good." Then after what feels like forever the bell signaling lunch finally rings." Class dismissed."

And with that I quickly pack up and leave the classroom as fast as I can. I was rushing through the hallways when I feel a grip on my arm and I stop in my tracks.

"You are going to do all the work and you are going to make it good, okay?" Tom whispered deeply in my ear.

"I was going to anyway since I know I can't rely on you." I replied

And with that I pulled out of his grip and walked towards the library.
