"Three days!? Come on, isn't there extra money I could pay, or some extensive convincing I could do to speed this along? We don't have time to be out here in the middle of nowhere for three damn days." I raised my voice at the mechanic man. Long story short, something went wrong with the car, of course, on our way back to Santa Cruz, California. We were coming from Alpine, Texas and the drive was already long enough, I didn't need an extra three day extension on this already fucked up job.
"Listen lady, the best I can do for you is get the part by tomorrow evening, then your car will be as good as new the next day. But that's only if you pay extra for faster shipping." The mechanic, Owen, gave me an attitude as he wiped his hands off with the already oil covered rag. "There's a hotel about 20 minutes down the road, you give me your number and I'll keep in touch and let you know when she's good, but until then, there's nothing else I can do for you." I wanted to rip his head off, his fault or not, this whole situation was a huge mess. We are stuck in the middle of no where, with no car until Thursday, a car that had 500,000,00 in cash in the trunk, keep in mind all of that is stolen and we could possibly be getting caught to by authorities at this very second and there was not one thing any of us could do about it.
I nodded, "Alright, fine. Here, that's $300, do what you need with it to get her fixed up as soon as possible." I walked back outside to everyone to tell them what was going on. They all sat on their phones, I'm not 100% sure what they were all doing, but the minute they noticed I was standing there, they all turned their attention to me. I crossed my arms and sighed, "We're fucked."
Cam stood up quick and started rambling off, "What do you mean 'fucked'? What's it gonna take? Five hours? I can handle th-"
"Three days, Cam." I cut her off, she was talking so fast. I would've thought she was going to kill me with the way she glared at me. Everyone just sat in silence for a minute or so, what the hell were we gonna do in Deming, New Mexico for three days?
"Well, we better get to steppin'." Jordyn stood up and started walking down the street in the wrong direction.
"Uh, Jordyn, the-"
"Hotel is that way, I know."She cut me off and turned around walking back towards us, in the right direction this time.
Everyone still sat around while Jordyn made her way down the street, further and further away from us with every step she took. "Well, you heard the girl, let's get a move on." Addy was the one to speak and start walking to catch up with Jordyn. Only seconds later, all five of us were marching down the, for this ghost town, busy street. Each of us carried two bags, one a huge duffel bag that held our weapons and an even bigger book bag that held all the damn money we stole last night. Not to mention it felt like it was 300 degrees outside, just our luck.

The minute I dialed Boss's number, I regretted even picking up the phone. To my luck, it took not even two rings before the call went straight to voice mail, which wasn't normal. I didn't bother leaving a voice message, but I texted her and said, "Boss, the car, it stalled. We are stuck in Deming, NM, we have got a minor set back, three days actually, we are doing everything we can to speed this process up, the money is secure and we'll be back before you know it. Hope everything's going straight back home, X." Even though the message didn't deliver, I know she's a busy lady and I shouldn't stress out over it.
"So what's the plan from here?" Camryn asked. I thought we already went over this?
"We wait for the car to be fixed, then we get back on the road, what do you mean? I thought you already knew this?" Natalie spoke from the bathroom that was small enough to be a closet.
"I don't think you guys get it. The longer we wait here, the closer we are to getting caught. The longer we sit in this .. disgusting hotel room, the less chance we have of getting back home and ensuring our safety, because who the hell knows who's after us now! I don't know if I was the only one to notice, but we weren't the only ones looking to steal this money last night. By the looks of it, we could have the feds, Alpine's Empire and Mr. Hied Graham's men themselves after us at this very moment and what are we doing? We are sitting around, helpless as ever, basically waiting to get busted." Cam yelled at us, sure she had a point and we should be a bit more alert right now, but she made me feel like she was my mom or something, which I wasn't pleased with, but Natalie came out from the bathroom and spoke up before me.
"Just calm down, alright? We'll be out of here before you know it. While we are here, let's enjoy the.." Natalie looked out the window and looked for something.. anything to "enjoy". "Nice weather they're having."
Good one, Nat.
I tried to close my eyes and tone out the rest of their conversation so I could get some type of sleep, which I thought would've been easy because Addy and Jordyn left to do some "sight seeing". Though I'm not exactly sure what "sights" they could be seeing in this wasteland of a town. The walk from the car shop, I'd say we saw a total of four people, maybe. The more I thought about this, it seems to kind of work out, almost. I feel like all we've done for the past three months was work, work, work. None of us have really had any time off with all the training and warm up missions we've been on lately. I mean, no this isn't exactly the ideal "vacation", but I'll take what I can get at this point. Even if I spend these three days here in this bed, drifting in and out of sleep, I'm totally fine with that and I know for a fact the other girls feel the same way, even Cam, in a way.
Before I finally fell asleep, I heard Addie and Jordyn walk back into the hotel room, loud like always, of course. Going on about something that couldn't have been too important, because I fell right asleep to the sound of their voices, which isn't normal, but there's a first to everything, I guess.
