*ding ding ding*

The last school bell of the summer was like literally the best sound ever. I quickly packed up my things from the desk and stuffed them in my book bag not caring if my papers were all jumbled up. It was the the last day of my sophomore year and It was legit the worse year ever. I lifted my book bag on my shoulder eager to head out of class and out of this shitty hell hole of a school, but I was stopped by my English teacher.

"Hey, DeKharia can you hang back for a second? She said in a non readable tone. I mentally rolled my eyes.

"Um yeah sure" I said blankly. I sat down in a near by desk and fiddled with my fingers.

"So I just wanted to say I graded your EOC exam and you did exceptional." I was a bit taking back because I know I'm not stupid, I'm just a bit slow and don't do well on test.

I snapped out of my thoughts. "Are you sure ? That can't be right Ms. Cane."

"But surely it is. I just wanted to let you know before you left for the summer. Have a good break." She smiled before she exited the room.

I left the classroom right behind her and luckily most of the students were gone. I was so happy to leave the school for the summer I was basically already planning what I was gonna do.

Which is nothing.

My phone started to vibrate in my pocket. I pulled out my iPhone and saw the picture of me and my Bestfriend pop up. "Hello?"

"Girl where are you ? I'm at the park and its niggas galore over here"

I snickered into the phone . "Aw shit say no more, I'm on my way." I hung up the phone and headed to the park . My mom wouldn't be here to pick me up till 4:30 and its 3:34. I walked into the park and she was right, Niggas in every corner. I made my way over to her flirting with some boy. Figures. "Hey Zoe." She was to busy making goggly eyes with mr humpty dumpty head ass to see I was right there.

"Awww hey girl I didn't see you , this is my new friend Corbin." He licked his lips

"Hey, how you doing?"

"Fine." I said looking past him. "Look Zoe I'll just text you later."

"Mhhmm." She said not making eye contact with me. I laughed and walked away. Man this girl a trip.

*2 hours later*

I was laying on the living room couch watching tv. Nothing was on so I decided to get on Instagram. As I was scrolling through pictures and double tapping a few , I suddenly stopped on this picture of a guy that someone edited and tagged him in. He was fineee. When I say fine , he was cute as hell. Tall, light skinned, by the looks of the picture it seemed like he could dress , big brown eyes , and don't even get me started on his lips. I decided to be a little creepy and click his profile.

"Damn" I mumble to himself. He has a girlfriend . I clicked on a picture of them both and saw he tagged her . I debated on if I should click her name or not. Yeah I'll click on it . Just to see if she's cute or not. You know , not a big deal you not cray or anything. Just trying to see if she was worth dating I thought to myself . Sure enough she was ugly as fuck . So I got a little happy . I know I probably wasn't the best looking person but I was way better looking than her .

I sat there for a few minutes deciding on if I should DM him. I never make the first move so I didn't know what to say . I picked a random picture from my gallery and typed "Hey". I sat there a few minutes kind of disappointed that I didn't get a notification back. Im not finna sit here and wait for a guy to text me back. I stared at my phone screen one last time and I saw it light up. A smile crept on my face and I unlocked my phone.

"Wassup?" he said.

"Wyd?

"Shit nothing bored, watching my lil bro get beat up."

"Lol really? You gonna let him get beat up like that, I take his side"

"Whaaat? How you gonna take his side, you suppose to be on my side"

"Well I barley know you"

"Well what you wanna know?"

"Whats your name and Where do you live?"

"My name is Cornelius, but I go by Corey and I live in Saint Louis wbu ?

"Im DeKharia but I go by Khari and omg really ? I live in Saint Louis too.

"Bruh foreal ? Stop playing"

"Lmao im foreal, I live on the south side on Sidney. Where do you live?

"You cute" I was smiling so hard by now. The conversation lasted all night.
