The night air was freezing against his flushed cheeks. Not to mention the air was getting harder to breathe. Harry panted for his dear life, he picked up his speed, adrenaline flowing through his veins urging him to go faster. It was cold and the tension was very thick you could cut it with a knife.
He quickly glanced over his shoulder and saw the shadows behind them, too desperate to catch up with him and his brother. He quickly turned away and concentrated on his tracks, his heart still racing with fear.
Both were gasping hard with effort while Harry sobbed in desperation, he was trying his best to ignore the burn in his legs. But Harry felt as though it would be better if he just gave up. He knew that the big men would capture them anyway.
His visions were getting blurry from the tears brimming in his eyes, he wanted to collapse and meet with the ground but a strong pair of hands held him tighter. His head slowly lifted just to meet the same glassy forest green orbs, only that it depicted optimism.
“Harry, don’t give up! Please I beg of you, don’t cry.” Edward’s voice was shaken. He really didn’t know how to keep his younger brother from crying. They’ve been running for God knows how long their little legs were sprinting. Edward knew the reason why they were being pursued, but Harry on the other hand hasn’t had the slightest idea.
“I-I can’t r-run a-anymore Ed.... I’m g-gonna die h-here...” Harry stuttered, kneeling down on the dirt. His wounds brushing against the soil worried Edward even more. He immediately brought Harry in his arms as he supported his younger twin brother to a safe place.
Edward led them towards a bulky tree, large enough to hide their small bodies. The older twin examined their surroundings first before situating Harry to lie down on his back. Edward took off his school jumper and used it to clean Harry’s soiled injuries. Sobs and whimpers kept on escaping from the younger twin’s mouth as his older sibling whispered soothing words that somehow pacified Harry almost immediately. He went closer to kiss Harry’s flushed cheeks, telling him they’re going to be alright and that nothing would separate them. This gave Harry the will to carry on despite the weariness he was feeling.
The Styles twins were still hoping that their parents were alive and desperately looking for them. Harry was already nearing his sleep when the twins unexpectedly heard a piercing gun shot, startling them both. Harry and Edward’s green eyes widened with fear, the noise was rather loud making the older twin grasp that the pursuers might be nearby.
“Harry, stand up! We’re leaving. Don’t let out any kind of sound okay? Trust me we’re gonna be alright. I won’t leave y—
Edward trailed off. For a moment he felt numb, the slight pain in his chest grew immense making him collapse on his knees. He saw the dark liquids dripping down his shirt, in every second the liquid would spread across the cloth forming a large stain, he felt nauseous. Edward’s vision was darkening... He clearly knew what happened to him so before he closes his eyes he had set his gaze back at Harry for the last time only to see the tears streaming boundlessly on his younger brother’s now pale cheeks. “No, E-Ed.....”
“Run...”
And that was the last word Edward had told his twin brother before darkness completely took over him.
