I was pacing up and down the bedroom, utterly confused. A million questions were bouncing back and forth in my head.
"Calm down, will ya?" Lexi lay comfortably on the bed, propped up on smooth silk pillows. She was meticulously filing her nails and listening to me ramble about Tia and Kylie.
"What was she doing with her?" I must have asked the question out loud a hundred times but my mind couldn't come up with any plausible explanations.
Was Tia in some way trying to protect me?
In any case though, I don't need protection.
"Lexi what do you think?" I probed.
My question went unanswered.
I halted to look at her and found her busy admiring her nails in lieu of listening to me.
Wow! Don't I absolutely have the best best friend in the whole wide world?
"LEXI!" My voice echoed in my ears.
"Oh my God! What? Who died?" She was startled and dropped her nail filer immediately.
"Nobody died!" I grimaced. "Are you even listening to what I was saying?" The frustration was evident in my voice.
"Okay, I'm not going to lie. No, I wasn't listening to you. I'm extremely sorry for that but Cia you have been blabbering the same story since the past thirty minutes. Come on, I heard you the first time." She pouted.
"Good to know, best friend." I snapped sarcastically.
"Hey, don't get all riled up." She said defensively.
"What do you expect me to do then? Dance? Announce to the world that - Oh look! My only girlfriend in college is now warming up to a girl I, in all true sense, abhor!" I was angry. Angry at Tia for meeting up with Kylie and hiding it from me, angry at Armel for proposing that truce which was as hollow as Jason-fucking-Chase, angry at Alexia for not understanding, but mostly I was angry at myself for acting so childishly.
I knew that I wasn't making any sense to Lexi, heck I wasn't making any sense to myself.
But I couldn't control it.
I couldn't stop my knees from quivering with anger, I couldn't stop my mind from wandering in Jason's direction, I couldn't stop the image of him and Kylie from springing up in my head every now and then- him and Kylie doing unspeakable, unimaginable, sinful things and I couldn't help but realize that this boiling indignation inside me wasn't because of Tia and Kylie, it was because of Kylie and Jason.
Tia had done nothing except for opening a portal for me to vent out all the frustration and desperation which I had kept bottled up inside me.
"Why don't you simply call her and ask her what she was doing with Kylie?" Asked Lexi. "Why make such a big fuss out of something which can be easily sorted?"
