"where is he?" luke cried to the nurse behind the counter, "please, I need to see him."
"fine." she growled, pointing to a door, "make it quick."
"oh god."

"michael." luke whimpered as he saw the state the poor boy was in.
broken leg, broken arm, held up in casts, tubes, machines.
luke cried harder than he had ever cried before. he couldn't understand.
"mr. clifford?" a voice came from behind, "michael's daughter is calling."
the nurse handed luke the phone, obviously assuming he was with michael in some way, calling him mr. clifford. which luke adored.
"daddy," lucy whined into the phone, "mummy left me in the car, and I can find her anymore."
"luc, it's luke." luke told her.
"kitty." she whimpered, "where's daddy?"
"he's sick, honey." luke sniffled, "I'm coming to pick you up okay?"
"okay."

"lukey," the small, pink haired girl ran at him, crying.
"hey, hey." luke bent down to pick her up, "what's wrong?"
"I never want to see mummy again," she cried, "she hates my hair, she hates me, and she's scary."
"hey, it's okay, you don't have to." he calmed her.

"kitty, what happened to your head?" lucy asked, pointing at a small cut, as they entered the hospital.
lucy had her arms wrapped around luke's neck, scared of what she would see.
"daddy and I," luke took a deep breath, "we were in a little accident."
"oh. can I see him?"
luke nodded, setting the small girl down, pointing to michael's door.
lucy quickly ran to the door and opened it, falling to the floor after she realized what her father looked like.
"daddy." lucy cried on the floor, as luke picked her up.
"he's sleeping." luke lied.
