A vivid glimmer of sunlight radiates through the small gap of the curtains and reflects itself on my pillow. My blonde locks of hair shined brighter than before with the help of the radiating sunshine. I slowly opened my buried eyelids to be woken by the light peeping through the curtains, at this time I knew that it was time to wake up. I grasped my bed sheets and pulled my body up and leaned against the wall and got a good leer at the rising sun. I lifted her chin and stared up into the dwelling ceiling, ''Oh, sunshine. You know I really didn't want to wake up today.'' I groaned. I've always been one with nature and all things bright and beautiful. I suppose I should get up then... I thought to herself as I lifted myself up off the bed and opened my curtains to reveal the morning daze. My name is Ivy, I'm 17 years old. Never met my mum, only child. Pretty boring and simple family story. My dad has always told me that I'm a naturally beautiful young girl, but I've never believed him. He's always loved my blonde hair which is so long is flows down to my back and he still loves my hazel eyes I got off him. He always tells me that I remind him of my mum. Even though the most important and only man in my life thinks I have always "shimmered with physical attractiveness and pure elegance", I've never seen or thought nothing of the sort. From years of taunting and mistreatment from my previous and fellow classmates, I'm nothing but insecure. But this day is a fresh start for me, a brand new school. But the awkward thing is being transferred into the school the middle of the year. Even though I am now was away from that dreadful school, nothing terrifies me more than meeting new people. I've always been the unpopular one, but that has never bothered me the slightest.

I slipped on a knee-length olive dress and tied my irritating yet lingering blonde locks into a ponytail. Modern fashion has never been for me. Who's there to impress, anyway? Boys have never really been my thing. I stumbled downstairs with a chunky backpack filled with nothing but a pencil case. My dad was absent from the kitchen, but a note caught my eye as I entered the room. It read,
Hi Ives. Work needed me late last night, I'm sorry I'm not here for your first day. Good luck, lots of love and infinite kisses, Dad x
I scrunched the note into a small ball and threw it behind my shoulder, just missing the bin. I nervously marched over to the front door. Opening it with a stern look on my face, I took a deep long breath. ''A fresh start, right?'' I mumbled to myself, throwing my backpack on my other shoulder. The sun flustered in my eyes, making me squint and step back. But I lead on, heading on the path towards the building full of memories I may love or loathe.

Cautiously heading towards the towering poorly painted red gates, I felt a fairly familar drooping pain in my stomach. A sign directly infront of my read ''East Bridge Secondary School''. What an ugly name. Battling my fears, I stepped through the gates and wandered towards the largest building there. I pulled out a crumpled and many-times folded map with the most careless and untidy hand drawn structure of a school I've seen. Before I could figure out what this disheveled map could tell me, I felt a heavy hand almost weighing me down on her shoulder. Spooked, I swiftly turned around only to be face to face with a middle-aged man with rounded glasses weighing on his nose. The drench of sweat filled my nose almost immediately.
''Apologies if I scared you miss. By your aimless wandering and dazed look, I would take a guess that you're the new student,'' He exhibited a small piece of paper for a moment and quickly gazed back up to the girl. ''Ivy Little, correct?'' assumed the well-spoken, yet slowly spoken man.

I hesitated with nervousness.

''Oh, um - yes. Correct...Sir. That's me.''
The man snorted out with laughter. He went straight-faced after a minute.
''No need to be nervous, dear. I am your new Headmaster. Some students call me Mr Hoskinson, some simply just Sir. Your choice, Miss Little.''
I stared up at him with awe and confusion, and let out an awkward and forced giggle.
''Anyway, down to business. You're rather early I see, which gives me an opportunity to show you around the school grounds. Or I could just lead you to your form room simply.'' He said with a gruff and stern tone.
Already a little frightened of this man, I didn't desire to spend another minute with him.
''Oh no Sir...um..Mr Hoskinson. I don't want you to go through...any trouble. I will wait in my form room. Thankyou anyway Sir.''
Mr Hoskinson let out a crooked grin.
''Whatever you wish. I shall escort you to your new classroom.''
I awkwardly stumbled behind, trying to avoid conversation with him.
''Oh, Iris...is it? Iris, I forgot to give this to you dear. Our uniform. We have strict rules and policies here and you require to wear this attire before the other students arrive.''
''Oh, sir, it's not...Nevermind. Of course, I'll put it on right away.''
He nodded with a smug look on his face.
''Excellent.''

After I was lead to my new form room, I waved a polite farewell to the Headmaster. As soon as I entered this unfamiliar room, I felt a distant feeling of coldness and emptiness. Alone with nothing but my thoughts, I roosted on the chair nearest to the glass door. I sat there for a good five minutes fiddling with my tie and playing on my chair to distract myself from the fact soon I will be acquainted with at least 30 new people. The stomach pain returned, which did nothing but make me even more on edge with the situation. As I heard distant chatters in the background approaching me, I gained a straight and professional posture on my chair and gazed directly towards myself. I gently relaxed my eyelids and closed them, and took a deep breath. All i could hear at that moment was a commotion of people entering the room at the same time but then almost complete silence as they saw me sitting at the edge of the table. I heard distant yet quick whispers as i kept her eyes closed shut, but jerked them open as soon as the vast collection of people could see me in full view.

I was now back to reality, and I didn't enjoy it. In a room full of unfamiliar strangers felt like a nightmare to me. I started too gaze around the room, familiarizing myself with the new people and my environment until a brunette girl caught my eye faster than the speed of light. Not knowing if it was the newly applied tie or this girl that tightened my throat, I grasped a hold of my neck and gulped. There she sat, a bewitching, delicate girl with fair brown hair who stood out from everybody in the class. For a single moment, my eyes caught the mystery girls bright refined sea-like eyes. I was nothing but fascinated by her until I realized I was staring at this girl. Embarrassed, I swiftly returned to looking down at my tie. The only thought that span around my head  like a merry-go-round at that exact moment was, why am I so intrigued by her? The most beautiful girl I've ever seen was sitting right in front of me. Holding hands with a boy. Do I like her?
