We’ve been best friends for all these years,
And what great fun it’s been;
All the wine and big nights out,
The crazy things we’ve seen.
You’re remarkable and everybody knows,
You brighten up a room with what you say,
So, now whether you need me day or night,
Remember, I am just a call away.
I try to remember, that instant, that breath,
When my heart knew you were the one.
Was it when we first met or when we first kissed?
Did I realise then what had begun?
Was it fate that gave the key to you’re lock?
Let’s grow old together, skin wrinkled, hair grey,
Repeating our stories and chatting all day,
Talk about each other and tell our kids how they’ve grown.
Play bingo, sip whisky, and take the taxis home.
It’s like the moon without the sun,
The night without the day.
Without the sparks in your blue eyes,
My whole world fades to grey.
So for now, I can’t allow, myself to indulge,
And my feelings divulge.
So I remain trapped in this crazy cycle of love and hate,
Wondering anxiously, if you’re just running late.
