"C'mon Rena!"

"You can do it!"

Rena let out a gasp of exhaustion and opened her eyes. She fell back into her throne, breathing hard. The crystal necklace laid around her neck, dead as a rock. No magic came from it and hasn't since the Shadow War where she had defeated Xix with it's magic, well, her magic that she couldn't use any more.

Now, she was trying to unlock it again because something was hurting Tierra. Something was draining every one who possessed magic, and sometimes to the point of killing them.

Rena looked at her black and dark grey dress. Black was the sign of mourning, and that what she was doing. It had been only a few months now since Sazohr was murdered. She looked up at Tyson and Sensiil who were cheering her on, but now their faces were sadden and they were silent. "I'm sorry guys," Rena sighed. "I can't do it. I probably won't be able to at all." She stood up and started walking towards the door.

"Please Rena." Tyson stopped her before leaving. "We need to stop whoever is doing this!"

"I know Tyson, but I have no magic. It was a one time thing. We have and army now, guards, they are trained to deal with this kinda stuff. I have to make sure the coronation is going well." Rena said, opening the door, leaving the throne room. Sensiil ran after her and together they left.

Soon Tyson joined them and they headed towards the ball room. Rena opened the door and stepped inside, taking in the decorations that covered the room. One of the girls who was helping put up the decorations came over to them. "Greeting Your Highness. Came by to see the decorations?"

"Yes we have Thelma. How is it going? It looks beautiful." Rena commented.

Thelma smiled. "It's going great. We're ahead of schedule. Only if the cooks could keep up though! Heh heh." Then Rena noticed the girl eyeing her dress. "Pardon me, Your Highness, but it's been awhile since the funeral. Why are you still wearing that?"

Rena looked at her dress again then at Thelma. "It looks nice." She answered, trying to hide the fact she was still upset about Sazohr's death.

Thelma nodded before bowing and leaving. Rena headed towards the kitchen. She checked on the food preparations. They were slightly behind schedule but still doing well.

After checking on other preparations, Rena sent Tyson and Sensiil away before returning to her quarters. She could take the queen's suite, but she continued stay in the princess suite until after she was officially queen.

She looked over at the dress stand where her coronation dress sat, collecting dust. She sighed. Soon she would have to put it on. The pure white, beaded, dress with a long purple and gold cape that had white fur trim, only made Rena's sadness grow.

The 115 year old girl knew she couldn't avoid her duty any longer. She kept on putting off the ceremony because things kept happening and in truth.

She didn't feel ready.

Sazohr was suppose to be with her, standing with her as she was being crowned. But that wasn't going to happen. Sazohr had joined the stars with her parents.

Rena knew she couldn't let herself fall to far, Tierra needed her as their queen. She needed to protect them from this mystery power that was killing all the mages. She had ordered Tyson to stay on castle grounds where the guards could see him and made sure he was safe.

She wouldn't be able to live with herself if something happened to Tyson. She grew to love him like a brother. It helped that his father, Adamar, and mother, after moving to the castle, pretty much took her in. They became parental figures and helped her after she was told Sazohr was killed.

Rena knew that Tyson had grown to love her as a sister, rather then a crush, but he got upset every time someone tried to make a move on her.

She smiled at the memory of Tyson burning one of the younger guards who tried to flirt with her. But it only brought other worries.

The court, which was still being formed and perfected, would pressure her to marry and have king. To have an heir.

She moved towards the window and looked over the buildings below. An heir would be needed if something happened to her. Good thing her parents had her, otherwise Xix would be king and Tierra would have fallen apart. A downfall.

But Rena knew that could never happen, not while she was around. She would protect Tierra if it kills her. She silent promised this before turning around.

Now, she had to prepare for her coronation that was only a day away.

"Something's going to happen..." Rena sighed.
