"Annabelle!" My mother shouted from downstairs. I had told her an hour ago I was getting on with an assignment I had been set at school, what could she possibly want now?

I rushed down the as I had heard the urgency in my mothers voice. The wooden stairs creaked under my feet with each step I took.

I walked through the lounge door to see my mother seated on the sofa with tears falling uncontrollably down her face. Her rosy lips were trembling as she tried to hold in sobs. She looked up at me displaying nothing but heartbreak and sympathy, like she had lost someone or perhaps something she loved dearly.

I understood why when I smelt unfamiliar scents round the room. In the far end of the room, stood three royal guards with golden badges on their collars to signify that they were of a high profile. They all looked so proud to be in the positions they were, as they were clearly doing their duty rightly in which they were probably rewarded for.

"Annabelle Rosalie Shelton, under King's orders we shall accompany you to the castle, there you shall be given further orders by King Sebastian himself; I suggest you say your goodbyes to all your loved ones as there is an awfully slim chance you are to return, here." the guard said, his facial expression was emotionless and sounded strictly professional.

"What is going on? Why has the King sent for me?!" I shouted outraged. As far as I was concerned I had not done anything against the Kingdom so punishment was out of the picture. Surely they had enough servants and guards as whole generations of families had dedicated their lives to serving the royals, and It took a lot to be trusted around the palace so why would they have me a random girl with no rank what so ever at the palace?

I knew better than to object further, it would lead to me getting punished once I got to the palace. But this was by far the most inconsiderate thing a king especially could do, he was meant to put his people first, not rip them away from those whom they love most!

I sighed in content as I moved to sit next to my mother, "Mother I," I was lost for words, saying goodbye especially to my mother was something I had not seen my self doing, not for at least another three or so years. When I and my mate would finally be moving together, to start our own family.

It was only my mother I could say goodbye to, as my father had been exiled from the pack after he gave an Alpha an order; which was impossible until my father had done it, funny enough the Alpha had actually followed the order. But soon after the King had found out about this, he made sure my father was never to be accepted into a pack. Not only that but, I had overheard a couple of the elders in the pack say he had been injected with a high dosage of wolfs bane that plus the distance between he and his mate my mother, could surely have put him six feet under. I missed him dearly.

"I'm so sorry this had to happen to you, I love you so much" My mother cried pulling me into an awkward tight hug.

"This is not your fault and I'm the one who's sorry! I am leaving you all by yourself with a bunch of selfish bastards for a pack!" By now rebellious tears were streaming down my face; I could taste saltiness of the few drops that had intruded my mouth. My attempt to stay strong had been in vain.

"Say that word again and you'll be grounded for life!" Mother joked trying to lighten up the situation. A slight smile was now tugged on to her lips as she watched me, as if trying to memorise everything.

I chuckled, "That way I won't leave you and please mom don't give me that look! I'll be back soon, we'll be to the seaside together again soon!" I said, trying to give myself rather than her a little hope.

I broke down into fits of sobs as me and my mother held each other, whispering comforting words into each others ears. We were so close yet just one person managed to separate us that easily. All because of the power he had over us, because we valued our lives we could never disagree with a royals opinion or  choice.

After what seemed like forever we pulled away and she planted a small kiss onto my forehead. It was like a replay of her facial expression when father had been exiled, but she never got to say goodbye.

"Would it be necessary for me to pack anything?" I said turning to the guards as I attempted to wipe tears off my face. My vision had blurred.

As if in sync the guards shook their heads 'no' then gestured me to follow them out the door of the place I now, used to call home. Outside I spotted a lot more guards and girls from my pack and bronze wolves were scattered all over the sunny street. I was shocked, even the stubborn girl who had bullied me since I was a twelve stood there dumbfound, waving vigorously at her parents who stood at their house door as tears streamed down her face. It was a little comforting to know that I was not alone, even though I was scared as to were this was going to lead, why and we had not even been given a warning. I felt like a toddler again, so vulnerable.

Across the road I spotted Christina, the one and only person I could actually call my friend, the only person who had bothered with me outside of my home over the years. She was always there for me even at my lowest and always gave me hope, now to see her trying to fight off five guards just to return into her mothers arms was absolutely mortifying. A year ago her father had passed away and since then her mother always attempted to commit suicide so she would not have to mourn the death of her mate, her other half for the rest of her life but Christina was always the one to stop her. That also being the reason why she had dropped out of school at the early age of fifteen, she could not risk losing another parent, but now she had no choice; much like myself.

I had the sudden urge to go up to her and comfort her however as I took a step forward a hand roughly tugged my shoulder. " You shall stay at my side by all means until we reach the palace, if you try to run away by all means I have no choice but to kill you!" one of the guards that had been in my house said pulling me back to his side.

" How are we getting there?" I asked swallowing a block of saliva from the sudden nervousness that had overcome me. I understood the King had sent a lot of men but how he intended to get over fifty werewolves to the castle all together not via any form of transportation what so ever remained a mystery.

"A witch." guard replied looking away, every time I spoke to him he hesitated in answering me, It was like he had no feelings what so ever! Perhaps it was part of his training to never display emotions, i felt sorry for whoever his mate was.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when gasps erupted all across the street, a lot of the guards were now running around like headless chickens as they mob of people all seemed to be turning to the same direction to watch, with horror struck faces. That's when I saw Christina sprinting  down the opposite end of the road throwing numerous amounts of guards off her. I immediately started after her so was 'my' guard who was hot on my heels.

Being a fast runner, I quickly caught up to her as she rounded a corner and tackled her onto the dusty road.

"Are you out of your mind!?" I practically screamed at her.

"Oh Anne! I can't leave her, I won't get to to see or hear her voice ever again," she cried her voice breaking with every word she spoke "I doubt that cruel king would even let me attend my own mothers funeral!" she growled.

"Don't worry, my mom will take great care of her I promise. She'll be fine, everything will...Just don't do anything like that again, you could get killed!" I whispered pulling her into an embrace.

"Alright, I'll let this shit happen as long as we stick together." she sighed.

"That's alright with me and I doubt language like that will be permitted at the palace." I said laughing as we walked back to were everyone had gathered around. I was surprised non of the guards had said anything to Christina after her little stunt, but it was for the better.

"Oh screw that! this is the twenty-first century, please tell me you brought your ipod with you?"

"Of course I did!" I laughed.

By now everyone was huddled up in a circle so the witch could do whatever spell to get us all including the guards to the palace. I whispered 'I love you' to my mother through our mind link just before the witch went through with the spell...
