I looked past the foggy glass, i could see faces, shifting through placid expressions. I looked at the bottom of the glass cube, water flowed from the pipes, and it slowly had risen to my knees, clutching its moisturizing touch to soak my bones. I couldn't understand, why. Why this beautiful clear substance, could be a deadly evil substance. I banged on the glass, looking past the lab coats. I started screaming. The sound of desperateness. The last resort. I looked at my reflection in the glass, a little girl, with a scar over her left eye, her hair blonde, now soaked in blood. I looked at my fingers, red liquid streamed from them. I let out one last cry.
I saw my brother through my own reflection, the innocence gleaming deeply within his eyes, he was screaming at them, pounding his little fists in the air. His bright blonde hair, shaggy and wild. "I'm sorry" I whispered, as the water went to my jawline. I looked up and then closed my eyes, to the deafening roar of water surging past my face, it reached the top quickly, and finally I found real devastation, the feeling that knows you will die, it kills you that instant, it tears the last remaining strands of hope from you, but then I saw my brother, I was supposed to protect him. I had failed, I was failing. I looked the other way and saw a light. It was so close I could almost reach out and touch it. I am almost there, I saw happiness in the light, I saw the thrill of freedom, but my gaze was torn back to Henry, his little face streaming with tears and eyes wide. I studied his face and then with one final heave, I let go of my breath, and tried breathing in, I had to live.
I had to keep Henry safe. I had to save him from the wicked, but I was dying. No I couldn't die, I wouldn't allow it. Water gurgled into my mouth. I narrowed my eyes and with all my strength and smashed into the glass, pushing off the sides, it broke shattering into a million pieces at my feet, and as I lay gasping on the ground, I saw them dragging Henry away. he was screaming my name. I sighed and then fell back, anyplace but here I thought. Goodbye Henry.
