Blizzard walked toward a blue-gray she-cat basking in the sun. "Um... Ice?" Blizzard asked, alerting the old she-cat.
Ice grumpily stood up. "What now?" She hissed. And then she saw the white kit. Her eyes softened. "Oh, it's time for the Lifename ceremony, isn't it?" Blizzard nodded.
Ice leaped up the box-pile, an elevated area where the leader talks to the clan. "All cats who have received their Lifename come and gather to hear my words!" She yowled. Slowly the cats gathered around the box-pile. "Today, a new life is going to join our clan." Ice continued. "The third and youngest kit of Blizzard. Come forward, Blizzard and her kit." Blizzard carried the white kit, and leapt up onto the box-pile. Ice stepped towards them, and touched her nose on the white kit's forehead. Spasms ripped through the kit, as it has happened with every cat as they received their Lifename. The kit closed his eye in pain, and Blizzard had to fight back the instinct of rescuing her kit, but she knew that it was for his own sake. Soon, the spasms stopped and and the kit opened his eye again. This time, instead of being confused and fuzzy, they were clear and knowing.
"H-hello?" He uncertainly mewed and looked around. He spotted the white she-cat next to him and instantly . "Mother!" He stepped towards her. Blizzard's eyes glistened with pride as she heard her young kit talk. Blizzard nuzzled the little kit, and asked,
"What is your lifename, little one?"
"Redford, mother. It's Redford."
----
Redford was clear and aware of himself. Blizzard was his mother, and he was in Brightclan, as his mother has explained to him. Ice was his leader, and she was old and wise. "A good leader." His mother had said. He was excited to explore the clan, but Blizzard won't let him out of the nursery, because she told him that he need to rest. But he couldn't rest, because he was filled with excitement.
Soon, he decided that he was going to sneak out of the nursery. He silently put one paw down in front of the other, avoiding the strange crinkly twoleg items.
He finally emerged out of the nursery, safe. He looked around, and saw many cats laying in the sun, coming back from outside the clan, carrying some strange creatures and items.
He trotted around the camp, looking and various things while the cats looked at him curiously. He ignored them, because he was too busy looking around and admiring everything.
In the center of the camp, he spotted two other kits, an orange-cream she-cat and a blue-gray tom playfighting with each other. He walked toward them, eager to join the game. "Can I play?" He asked.
The orange cream she-cat looked up from squashing the blue-gray one. "Oh, of course! Wait.... You must be our new brother- how exciting! I'm Brick, your older sister. How do you like the clan so far?"
"I love it!" Redford said. "S-"
"I think that's enough." The blue-gray one said.
"That's Swift, your older brother." Brick said. "He's very grumpy." She grinned. Swift batted Brick, quite annoyed. "Anyways," Brick continued. "Let's start!"
During the playfight, Brick defeated both Swift and Redford several times. "Wow, you're great at this!" Redford said. Brick smiled back. Redford noticed that Swift didn't seem that happy. Is there something wrong with him? Redford thought to himself. He wanted to gain the approval of Swift too, so they can all be happy siblings together.
