;;Jane's Point Of View;;
After the phone call with the person on the radio, I went downstairs and walked to the kitchen.
"Everything alright, sweetie? You seemed pretty upset when you came home." My dad asked.
"I was upset, but I guess I'll be okay now." I responded as I opened the refrigerator. "Seriously? We have nothing to eat." I said as I looked in the fridge.
"What do you call this then?" Mom asked as she pulled a bag of broccoli out of the fridge and held it in front of my face.
"Garbage." I said and mom rolled her eyes.
"Why don't you ever eat anything healthy? You always eat junk food." Mom said.
"No, mom. Broccoli is junk food." I said and she laughed a bit.
"Whatever."
"Besides, if this isn't healthy, then what is it?" I said as I grabbed an apple and bit into it.
"So, what happened?" Mom asked.
"Nothing. Just slight boy drama. Oh, by the way I'm going to the radio station tomorrow to talk about the tour. Okay, bye." I said as I quickly walked to the staircase.
"Not. So. Fast." Dad said as he caught up with me.
"What?" I said.
"What tour?" Dad asked.
"I accidentally won a contest and now I'm going on tour with The Janoskians sometime soon." I said and looked at him.
"What?!" He said.
"Let her do it, Bob. She never gets out of the house. She can catch up on schoolwork when she gets back. It's not like she goes to public school." Mom said.
"And I'm 17." I pointed out.
"You've got a point, I guess. How long is the tour?" Dad asked.
"I think it's supposed to be two months." I answered.
That's when mom spit her water all over the place.
"Two months? I take that back. You cannot go." Mom said.
"Two months is too long. She'll never get caught up on her schoolwork. Not to mention she will probably be up all night every night." Dad said.
"Listen, I can take my laptop with me and do my schoolwork when I find time between all the other stuff, and I will go to sleep as soon as I can at night. Please, I need to get away for a while." I begged.
"I don't know, Jane. This just doesn't seem right." Mom said.
"I'll do anything to be able to go on this tour." I said and mom looked at dad.
"Okay, fine. You can go." Dad said and I smiled wide.
"If you call everyday, send me pictures and videos, and do your schoolwork like you're supposed to. And you need to be mature. Just know this; tour life can be hard. I know it can." Mom added.
"How do you know, mom?" I asked.
"I used to tour with your aunt's band." Mom said and I giggled.
"Okay. I need to get some rest. I have to be at the station at 7:30." I said.
"In the morning?" Dad asked.
"Yep." I answered.
"Don't be late, and dress decent." Mom said as I ran upstairs.
"Okay." I replied and went in my room and went to bed.
After a few hours of lying in bed, I still couldn't sleep, so I sent Abi a quick text to let her know about the tour. For a few minutes we talked about it, and she seems happy for me.
-The next morning-
As my alarm started sounding off, I half-opened one eye, and realized that it was six in the morning.
"Too. Early." I mumbled and hit the snooze button.
About ten minutes later, the alarm started sounding off again. I whimpered and sat up before turning it off. I tiredly got out of bed and started walking toward my bathroom, I was going slow and my feet were practically dragging. I hate mornings.
"Jaaane! Are you up, sweetie?" Dad yelled.
"Does being alive count?" I replied.
"If you're out of bed." He said.
"I am. I'm about to get dressed." I said and went into my bathroom.
I brushed my teeth and washed my face, then I put my contacts in. I walked out of my bathroom and grabbed an outfit out of my closet before changing my clothes, then I fixed my hair.
"Jane, you ready to go?" Dad asked as I grabbed my phone and walked out of my room and to the kitchen.
"As ready as I can be." I said and dad chuckled.
He drove me to the station and let me out, then told me he'll wait outside in the car. I looked at the clock once I was inside and realized it was 7:25. Good thing I'm early.
"Are you Jane Kamp?" A lady asked. Sounded like the radio announcer I spoke to last night.
"Last time I checked, yes. Jane Olivia Kamp." I said and the lady chuckled.
"Alright, Jane. I'm Stacy. Follow me." She said and led me to another room.
"The boys were supposed to come, but they couldn't make it. So, you and I will just discuss it. Now, you know-" She continued talking, and I continued listening. After a while it seemed like we had been discussing it forever.
-An hour later-
After we were finished, I walked outside and got in the car.
"So?" Dad asked.
"Surprisingly, there wasn't very many details. We were just talking about when we will leave for the tour and when we will come back, what cities and states that we will go to, and stuff like that. She said that I won't really know the sleeping arrangements or schedules until tomorrow." I said and dad nodded.
"So you're coming back tomorrow to discuss some more?" Dad asked as we started to go back home.
"I'm leaving for tour tomorrow." I said and dad nearly freaked out.
"Leaving tomorrow?! What time?" Dad asked.
"Six in the morning. One of the tour managers is supposed to pick me up at 5:40." I said and dad was silent for a few moments as we pulled into the driveway.
"I think you should immediately start packing, and get some rest. And sorta hang out with me and your mom. I have a day off work." Dad said.
"Alright. I'll pack, then I'll come and hang out with y'all, then I'll rest." I said as I went inside.
