Chingu. It means friend, but it means a lot more than that to me. It means longevity and inside jokes. It means getting hyped up on caffeine and never forgetting how stupid we can be together. It means never losing touch, despite distance and our parents cutting off contact. It means coming up with nicknames for each other that only our closest friends understand. It means knowing each other's weaknesses and failures, obsessions and successes, joys and favorites. It means memorizing the layout of eachother's houses because we saw each other as much as we possibly could. It means wanting to travel however far it takes just to see each other for a short time, and then cry at departure. It means plans to continue being friends in the future, despite all other plans. It means making exceptions when it comes to our own personal Pandora's boxes just to please eachother. It means being willing to break a few rules so we can be together at summer camp. It means being there for eachother even when in an awkward (suspected) love triangle. It means comforting eachother in many ways, whether our parents are upset, our siblings are driving us crazy, or we just feel like dirt. It means sticking up for eachother no matter what the costs. It means never being upset with eachother for more than a day. It means being incessantly understanding and willing to let unresolved things go. It means caring enough for eachother that we consider ourselves as sisters. It means being in our own little world, galloping and skipping and holding hands in Walmart and not caring about the weird looks we get. It means being accepting of eachother's interests. It means rejoicing in the childishness we bring out in eachother. It means being able to simply think about eachother to feel better when we're upset. In short, it simply means... you. Saranghae, Chingu-ya.
