I looked over the letter in my hand once more and laughed.
"Why are you laughing, Sarge?" Melissa asked completely taken aback by my lack of seriousness. "This isn't funny...he just threatened your daughter's life."
"He can't do anything to Lilly-Bella, because he doesn't have her anymore." I said as I regained my composer.
"You shouldn't underestimate him, Sarge." Steven said as he leaned against the brick wall behind Melissa. "He may not have her now...but that doesn't mean that he won't find away to get her away from you...Timmy too."
"He might be good at manipulating people, but he forgot that I have never fallen for his tricks."
"You fell into his trap the moment you started working at that lab." The shorter man confronted. "You stood by helplessly as they took your brother and pregnant wife away and infected them with the virus...ultimately taking them away from you and your daughter, permanently." He went on. "So don't think for one second that you or all people are immune to his manipulation."
"I had no other choice...I was just doing my job." I tried to argue back, but I really couldn't...he was right. "I'm not going to let it happen again...if he wants my daughter or Andie he's going to have to fight me to the death."
"This isn't medieval times Sarge...you could just kill him and be done with all of this." Johnny said amused. "Then all we would have to worry about is how to save the people that can be saved."
"We really don't know where he is." Melissa said annoyed. "And even if we did he probably has hundreds of Crawlers and whatever protecting him."
"True, but we have a grenade launcher now." Johnny said as he held up the Krampus. "Two shots from this bad boy and Boom! Problem solved."
"We need his body for the cure, dumbass." His sister defended with her arms crossed. "Let's just wait until we meet up with Andie, and then we can all come up with a plan of action together."
"Your sister is right, John Boy." I said before taking the launcher from his hands. "We just need to wait this out, until we can all figure out what to do together."
"Why do you always take her side?" John asked, sounding like a small child that just got caught in a lie.
"Don't be so childish, Johnny...Sarge only agrees with me when he knows that I am right." Melissa said, but I hate to tell her...but they were both acting like children.
Ouch, Sarge. -Melissa
It's not your fault...it's just a thing that siblings do. -Sarge
Plus I think Johnny's jealous that Melissa is your second in command and he feels overlooked. -Andie
That's just because she has shown herself to be a good soldier. -Sarge
And I haven't! -Johnny (yelled)
Johnny, it's really not that big of a deal. -Jesse
Oh shut up, lover boy...no one asked for your opinion. -Johnny (getting into Jesse's face now)
Johnny, Sarge isn't your father...you don't need him to be proud of you...hell you don't even need that from Roberto. -Andie (getting between the two men)
I'm sorry. -Johnny (breaking down and hugging Andie)
Well that was unnecessarily dramatic. -Melissa
"Listen why don't we go ahead and switch guards we'll head out in a few hours or earlier if you two seem it unsafe here." I said with a sigh. "There wasn't anything out there when Johnny and I were on guard, but we all know that that can change in an instant, so keep your guard up...how good of a shot is Steven?"
