The ride home was peaceful. We were on the boulevard and the moon was full and happy. The light of the moon glistened on the wet gravel. I bobbed my head to the music and listened to the sound of tires running along the smooth tar. I smiled and rolled my head backwards, admiring the beauty of the moon.Åsa
I was never superstitious but my grandmother had always said that what goes around must come around. She must have been wrong. He promised us that what we did tonight would only bring happiness and strength. Our bodies were temples of God is what he said. Our bodies needed to be cleansed because we were the chosen ones. He promised us that but I was beginning to doubt this. I was beginning to doubt him.Rosa
"I am a passenger, and I'll ride and I'll ride.. Mmm mm through the city at night.. Mm mm mm"I was happy and it's been a while since I was this content with myself and everyone around me.
There were a few other cars around us that were driving more or less the same speed and I waved at a child that looked out of the window at me. He didn't wave back. Instead, he stared at something that seemed distant but was closer than I would have ever imagined.

"We are the ones. No longer shall we suffer from broken souls. Tonight we heal! Stand up brothers and sisters! Stand up as one! Gemeinsam aufstehen!" Shouted our messiah.
"Ya!" We all chanted in reply.Rosa
A sudden wave of terror enveloped my body. My temperature dropped before I turned around and saw the first crash.Åsa
We had sharpened our machetes the night before. We've even practiced on pigs to prepare ourselves for tonight. We were ready... At least this was the three things that I repeated to myself.
We stood by the ambulance van- getting ready for the run. Not me though. Even though it was against my entire being- I prayed and I prayed to Jesus. I prayed for help. From someone. From anything.Rosa
With sweaty palms, a heart that beat my chest with all it's strength and a dry throat- I screamed for my parents to stop the car. I continued to stare out of the rear window.A man stood in the middle of the road. There was an ambulance van a few feet away from him and a body lying on the ground not too far away. It held a stick protruding from it's chest. I started to get sick but I continued to stare. He was shouting with a fist above his head. He punched the air once with his fist and immediately a whole cult of people ran towards our cars.
Åsa
We opened the doors of the ambulance after the messiah's ritual was complete. The others began to run first. They were the fastest and the tallest.Their bodies had grown from every ritual that the messiah had practiced on them. They were nine feet and some ten feet tall. We called them kingdoms and they never complained about the inconvenience of their height. Their bodies were blessed. They were the lucky ones. The elite of the cult.

"DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE!" I shouted for my parents who were just as shocked as I was. My dad got the car moving once again. The sounds of cracking glass and crushing metal rung through my ears. There were tall, beastly things running towards our cars. They jumped on the other cars' roofs and ripped the entire structure off like it was made of cloth. The sounds were excruciating to my ears but I didn't cover them.
"Rosa sit down! Stay away from that window! Stop watching Rosa!"
I didn't listen to my mother's frantic cries. I just stood watching out. Watching out for our car. And then they came...
For us.
