Portals

"Put on the suit!" Cap tells Tony. Cap helps Tony and I up. We all rush out of the lab. We run through a dim, debris filled hall. "Find engine three. I'll meet you there" Tony says. I open a portal for him and he goes through. I open another portal for Cap and I and we run through. When we come out the other side we see that engine 3 is totally dead, and a large chunk of the port side is torn off. "Stark, we're here" said Cap. Then I saw Tony flying in his suit and he got close to the damaged engine. "I gotta get this super conducting cooling system back online before I can access the rotors and work on dislodging the debris. I need you to get to that engine control panel and tell me which relays are in overload position" Tony told Cap. Tony flies into the giant cooling conductors. I open a portal for Cap and he jumps through to the control panel and opens it up. "What's it look like in there?" Tony asked him. "It seems to run on some form of electricity" said Cap. "Well, you're not wrong" said Tony. Tony continuously blasts broken debris off the turbine engine. It's bad, but still fixable. "The relays are intact. What's our next move?" Cap asked Tony. "Even if I clear the rotors, this thing won't re-engage without a jump. I'm gonna have to get in there and push" said Tony. "Well if that thing gets up to speed, you'll get shredded!" Cap told Tony. "Then stay in the control unit and reverse polarity long enough to disengage mag..." Tony started but was cut off by Cap. "Speak English!" Said Cap. "See that red lever? It'll slow the rotors down long enough for me to get out. Stand by it, wait for my word" said Tony. "Or; I could open a portal for you, behind you so when you go back, you'll go through it" I told them both. "Ok, we'll go with that. Because I trust you more than capsicle over there" said Tony. I opened a portal and Cap walked through it and stood beside me. Tony uses his laser to cut big pieces of broken metal. He then jumps on it, relieving the rotors. I see some men enter the port side. Cap and I look down wondering if they were help. Apparently not, because they begin shooting at us. Cap jumps down and starts fighting and taking them down, then he grabs a big gun and starts firing at them. He fires at anyone who tries to fire at me. If any of them did, I just opened small portals in midair and sent the bullets into the ocean below us. Tony starts to push the rotor using boosters from his boots. "Yeah, noticed" I heard Tony say, to Fury probably. The rotors start propelling faster and faster as Tony's boosters get more and more bright. Below, Cap keeps shooting at the men, then he lost the upper hand and slides off the railing. I open a portal under him and he falls through on purpose, ending up lying on the ground next to me, he stands up and i send him through another one, down to the men who were firing at us. Tony continuously spins engine 3, giving it all he has. The rotors are propelling properly and fast. The helicarrier levels itself. "Blair, I need that portal!" Tony calls out to me. I open up the portal and he lets go, falling through the portal, and then comes flying out the other end, hitting the wall and sliding down. He stands up and I open another portal sending both of us down to where Cap was. We both start fighting the men. Tony uses his suit and i use my portals to send the bullets away from me. I made a force field like portal around me so all bullets that hit it will be sent away.

Then we listen as Fury says that Coulson is dead. I suddenly felt devastated, he had been one of my friends from when I was working on the tesseract. Fury gathers us back into the briefing room. We all look as if in a daze, a look of numb shock shows on our faces. "They were in Phil Coulson's jacket. Guess he never did get you to sign them" Fury said as he threw Coulson's Captain America Trading Cards on the table towards Cap. Cap picks them up, the cards are stained with blood. "We're dead in the air up here. Our communications, location of the cube, Banner, Thor. I got nothing for you. Lost my one good eye. Maybe I had that coming... yes, we were going to build an arsenal with the tesseract. I never put all my chips on that number though, because I was playing something even riskier. There was an idea, Stark knows this, called The Avengers Initiative. The idea was to bring together a group of remarkable people, see if they could become something more. See if they could work together when we needed them to, to fight the battles that we never could. Phil Coulson died still believing in that idea, in heroes" Fury says. Tony gets up and walks away.

"Well it's an old fashioned notion" I hear Fury say as Cap and I get up and follow Tony. We find him staring at the empty cell container. "Was he married?" Cap asks him. "No. There was a uh... cellist, I think" he said. Oh my god, Audrey, who's going to tell her? "I'm sorry. He seemed like a good man" Cap told us. "He was an idiot" Tony said. "Why? For believing?" Cap asked Tony. "For taking on Loki alone" Tony said. "He was doing his job" Cap said. "He was out of his league. He should have waited. He should have..." Tony started. "Sometime there isn't a way out, Tony" said Cap. "Right. How did that work for him?" Tony asked as he walked away. "Is this the first time you've lost a soldier?" Cap asks him. Tony turns around sharply. "We are not soldiers! I am not marching to Fury's fife!" He said. "Neither am I! He's got the same blood on his hands as Loki does. Right now we've got to put that aside and get this done. Now Loki needs a power source, if we can put together a list..." Cap started. "He made it personal" Tony said as he looked at the blood stained wall. "That's not the point" Cap said. "That is the point. That's Loki's point. He hit us all right where we live. Why?" Tony asked. "To tear us apart" Cap said. "He had to conquer his greed, but he knows he has to take us out to win, right? That's what he wants. He wants to beat us and he wants to be seen doing it. He wants an audience" Tony said. "Right, I caught his act at Stuttengard" Cap said. "Yeah. That's just a preview, this is opening night. Loki's a full-tilt diva. He wants flowers, he wants parades, he wants a monument built in the skies with his name plastered... Sonofabitch!" Tony exclaimed and I opened a portal for us.

We came out into a hallway. Cap and I walk into the room where Romanoff and Barton are. "Time to go" Cap tells her. "Go where?" She asked. "I'll tell you on the way. Can you fly one of those jets?" Cap asked her. "I can" Barton said as he walks out of the bathroom. Romanoff nods, confirming he's on our side. Then I walked over to him and hugged him. I missed him, he was my best friend while I was researching the tesseract. "You got a suit?" Cap asked, interrupting us. We pulled away. "Yeah" Barton told him. "Then suit up" Cap said and I opened a portal, we came out to the room where our suits were at first. He grabbed his helmet and shield and I grabbed my mask and gloves. Then i get another portal and we go through and meet up with Romanoff and Barton. We all walk into the Quinjet. A SHIELD pilot looks and and stands in our way. "You are not authorized to be here" he said. "Son... just don't" Cap told him. The pilot leaves and Barton takes control of the Quinjet. We fly off and I see Tony flying in his suit next to us.
