"It is not in the stars to hold our destiny, it is in ourselves", She had once read in one of the many books in her old dusty bookshelf, but it wasn't until now the meaning behind that beautifully written sentence revealed itself to her as if it were an epiphany greater than any other discovery the human race had ever made and she realized the relevance of these words.
Shakespeare had somehow spotted a truth that most people didn't believe in. Superstitious, sad, boring people that craved for lies rather than what was portrayed as the truth in real life.. With other words: People like her. Seems like the many books, brilliant report cards and awards meant nothing at all. Blake was just like the people she couldn't stand. She was just as stupid. Oh cruel irony..
Let's face the facts shall we? We make our own happiness, our own destiny and yet we still manage to fuck up everything even with all that power in our hands. So many opportunities literally serve themselves on silver plates, begging for us to take them and use them in our journey towards the stars but we somehow always make the wrong decision, forcing the road to be even longer.
Why? Cause we believe in fate. We believe that although we made a mess, the universe will somehow clean it up for us and we'll have a happy ending just like in those bullshit romantic comedies where everything seemed to be all rainbows, puppies and sprinkles, everyone overlooking the truth, the pain the death that ravaged our world. It was stupid but it was human. People weren't wrong when they said that we're all alike cause we're all miserable, we all want love and we all have this hamartia, this fatal flaw that traps us in a fantasy world that we don't want to leave. Or was it just her?
Cause she made a lot of mistakes, taken a lot of stupid choices and gotten herself into numerous messy situations. She was stupid, depressed, happy, social, lonely all at once and so often that she had a hard time figuring out how she really felt. But that's just who she is.
And this is her story.
A story about life, love and all the other shit a teenager has to deal with. A story about friends and family and how those two groups of people seem to coalesce into a single unit. This is a story for the sceptic geek who have more books than friends. A story for the passionate yet heartless popstar who forgets who he is in the maze of flashlights. A story for the boy who'd rather die than come out of the closet. A story for the girl who craves love more than anything but never finds the real kind.
This is a story about the limits, the boundaries, the dividing lines , the fear and prejudice that keeps us away from happiness and from each other. The paper thin walls that seem more solid than the strongest titanium. This is... the walls.
