Chapter One

"You have got to be kidding me!" Elena screeched as she flung herself unto the bench beside me.

"First we lose our damn luggage and now our hotel reservations weren't booked?!?"

"Will you calm down?! " Lexi piped in glaring at Elena who was more than freaking out.

" We will work something out. Aj!?"she then looked at me expectantly .

I shrugged looking at my friends. Kyle was busy playing some stupid game on his phone not really bothered about the problem at hand.

Kyle James and Elena Martez had been my bestfriends since 7th grade and this trip was partially their idea.

We had met Lexi Croswell about three weeks ago while shopping and we had instantly clicked. She was the same age as Elena, Kyle and I. Seventeen.

Both my girl friends were quite the catch and most boys were instantly attracted to them. Kyle was hot but we prefered not telling him this as he already had an oversized ego.

I'm Aqua Johnson but my friends call me Aj. I'm your typical mature and independent good girl teenager.

Our parents had covered all our trip expenses and we had saved up some cash during the year doing part time jobs.

This trip was supposed to be fun but we had lost our luggage at the airport and now we were at the hotel where we had been advised that our reservations had not been booked and that there were no available rooms at the moment.

"First things first, we need to get something to eat, I'm starving." i informed my friends as i stood to my feet.

"Amen sister! " Lexi followed after me as i made my way out of the hotel. Kyle and Elena following close behind.

" Where are we gonna find a place open at this time of the night? " Elena asked wearing a worried expression as she checked the time on her phone

Eleven forty-seven.

" Hold up! " Lexi called before running across the silent street in the dark, over to a tall thin lady who looked to be about forty.

" What is she doing? That woman could be a murderer for all we know!" Kyle whined like the baby he is. I sent him a look telling him to shutup. I then turned my attention to the two who had ended their conversation by now.

"There's a diner around the corner. " Lexi informed as she led the way.

About 15 minutes later we were seated in the diner eating wondering what would be our next move.
" We need to find somewhere to stay for the night at least".. I tapped the table as an elderly couple beside our booth caught my eyes.

They were whispering lowly and i watched as a blush crept across the woman's face. Although she had a few wrinkles her hair held no grey streaks but instead was extremely long and dark and was caught in two braids.

She wore a nice blue and grey floral dress and a pair of black sandals.

Her hand rested lightly on the man's who had just a few grey streaks in his hair. He wore a grey dress pants and a white shirt. I watched as they spoke to each other. It was obvious they were in love. I couldn't help but smile as he held her hands and they got up. Just about then, there was a loud noise as the woman's dress was caught on a stray nail on the side of the table, causing it to rip straight up to the side. "Oh Calvin!" i heard her squeal before she covered her face in embarassment.

"Aj? " Elena tried to get my attention. I glanced at her quickly before i grabbed my purse and made my way over to the woman's side.

Blocking her from the view of everybody else. I slid my black jacket from my arms
