The Red String of Fate
-- There's an old story in Chinese folklore about a magical connection between two people that are destined to be soul mates, called 'the red string of fate'.
It's not the kind of connection we're used to thinking of, where you fall in love with your soul mate and feel an intense connection to them.
In Chinese folklore the red string of fate is an actual object... a string that's red but also invisible at the same time. It's tied to a pinky finger of every person on earth and stretches all the way out to the pinky finger of their soulmate wherever that is, regardless of time and space. Legend says that the string can get very tangled up but it will never break.

From the moment she saw him, she knew he had a place inside her deep cavern of feelings. The sight of him brought such foreign yet familiar surge of anonimity.
The only thing that she's certain of was that the feelings she possessed were indeed quite strong.
She thought maybe it was that Chinese woman's fault.
Her mind insisted but her heart didn't.
Especially when she saw a red thread attached on both of their pinky fingers.
Was it really the Red String of Fate or was it some cruel illusion that her broken heart formed to give her hope?
"Stop." She punched her chest a couple of times, blobs of tears streaming down her misty eyes. "Oppa, this can't be."
A tear fell on the picture frame she was holding close to her chest. It fell and spread on the person in the picture's face, staining the person's cheeky grin with liquid.
"I can't fall in love with you."
She uttered in between sobs of guilt and wistfulness.
"Or you'll die."
