I step on our plane as dad hauls my suitcase into the luggage compartment. "Are you okay sweetie?" He says as he quickly shoves an odd looking bag in the compartment. I want to take a second look but I don't bother. I just nod to him. "This is A-MAZE-ING!" I say as the AC blasts into my face. Dad laughs, an almost nervous laugh. "It's probably nothing," I think while laying down my red sparkly bag down I got for my twelfth birthday. I buckle my seatbelt as dad hops on the steps. This is it. What I'd been waiting for since I was 8 years old. A chance to see my mum again. The pilot shuts the door and he and my dad go straight to sit in the cockpit. It's pretty cool having a dad like mine. He does everything! Even flying! We speed away and take off within minutes. I set my iPad to aeroplane mode and try to drift off to sleep for the 6 hour journey. When I wake we are flying over the sea. But I feel the direction change and then I realise, we are going down. I see the water splashing hard on my window. I feel my heart sink rapidly. This really is it. I'm going to die. I dash to the cockpit and try to bust open the door. It doesn't move an inch. Then I go back to my seat and pull and my life jacket, luckily it inflates. I get my red bag, just in case. Salty tears are rolling down my cheeks as we are rolling down into the sea. I'm losing my breath with panic as my legs sprint to the exit door opposite my seat and I use the last of my strength to pull at the door. It opens. My body freezes and my eyes open after they were blurred with tears. We're barely in the sea. It's shallow. Squinting my eyes I see a glimmer of yellow, it's a beach! Feeling a glimmer of hope inside me, I attempt to swim towards it. I've never really been good at swimming but I could do all the basics but I put my red bag in front of me and used it as a float, that actually really helped! Finally having my own two feet on the ground felt great, but I still felt awful.
