"I don't see why I have to go to school for the 160th time, everything is repetitive and moving around sucks. I may be a vampire but that doesn't mean I can't make friends." I said, annoyed at my aunt.

She's the only vampire in my family other than my overprotective, 203 year old, brother. Everyone else in my family was killed by werewolves during an attack. The worst part was that they were close family friends, we thought we could trust them, but we were all so wrong. All werewolves are is monsters, killers. We know never to make the mistake of trusting them again.

Yeah, sure I've killed before, when I first started out as a fangling it was almost uncontrollable. They changed me when I turned 17, because they knew I would handle it well. They changed my brother later because it was a fact that the men in my family couldn't control it as well when they were teenagers.

The urges to kill, to feed, were overwhelming, you could hear every heart beat from thousands of feet away. You could smell a drop of blood without being in the same room as the person. All your senses are heightened, touch, smell, vision, hearing, taste, emotions.

Eventually you build up control, it takes years. You learn how to take only what you need and not a drop more. Luckily vampire blood heals, which means we can feed off of one person until they get too old for our liking, their blood tends to lose nutrients as they age.

"Yes you have to go, now don't throw a fit like last time." She warned.

"I didn't throw a fit!"

"You drained our neighbors." My brother teased and ruffled up my hair.

"Whatever. I healed them afterwards and made sure that they wouldn't remember anything." I rolled my eyes and fixed my hair so a piece fell over my blue-gray eyes.

I grabbed my bag off of the dinning room table and slipped it over my shoulder.

"Have fun at college!" I hollered to my brother and walked out of the house, shutting the door a little too hard behind me.

I walked to the corner, yes walked, boring, but we had to promise our aunt that I won't use any of my vampire powers in public. Lame. When I got there I wasn't surprised when I saw a few other kids. I kept my head down, believe it or not I was shy, I didn't really like talking to people when I had the option not to. One year my aunt found out that I had been 'convincing' my teachers to let me work alone. There went my allowance for the year, not such big deal when you've bee alive for 177 years.

All the kids here were freshmen, too young to drive. According to my aunt we don't need a car when we can walk everywhere, but of course she gets one. Yay, I get to ride a bus with a bunch of little kids. I let out a breath when the bus pulled up. It was my first time since the beginning of summer, being around all these people, it was going to be hard to control myself, but doable.

I waited for everyone else to load onto the bus before I did. I kept my head down the whole time, my hair hid half of my face. All these kids hearts were beating fast, they were nervous, I don't blame them, it was their first day of high school.

I made my way to the back and sat in the little, one person seat. I was not about to let some stranger sit next to me. I put in earbuds and turned on some music, I concentrated on it to help me mute out the noise of the blood pumping through of all these walking meals. The bus went forward, it made stops ever once in a while.

When we finally arrived at the school I was about ready to snap, I had to wait for all the other kids to get off the bus before I did and once I did I took a deep breath of the fresh air. Next time I would sit in the front. I took my time to walk into the school, were I would be surrounded by a bunch of egoistic brats.

I eventually entered the school and nearly laughed, almost all the girls were wearing short dresses that showed too much, and I showed up in an oversized sweatshirt and black skinny jeans. These girls practically had a layer of paint coated on their faces, and I showed up with a little eyeliner and mascara.

We had twenty minutes before school officially started. I wasn't into the socializing thing so I found my class right away. I frowned because the door was locked, apparently I had to wait for the teacher. I sighed and walked to the library, I sat down at a table and pulled out some of my sketches.

When you've been around as long as I have, you tend to get good at things.

Soon even the library filled up with people who were talking. No matter how many times the librarian shushed them, they didn't seem to care. I continued to listen to music as I drew a picture of a dark forest, full of leafless trees, the ground full of stones, marble circular stones, grave stones. Fog seeping in around them.

"Mind if I join you-" I jumped and would have punched the guy square in the face if he hadn't ducked. "-woah"

"Oh, my gosh, I'm so sorry, I didn't-" I looked up to see vibrant green eyes. I sat back down, I hadn't realized that I stood up. "-I was just about to head back to class." I tried to find a way to get out of this before I further humiliated myself.

"Don't worry about it, you didn't hit me, and even if you did it wouldn't have been the first time I've gotten hit."

I nodded and he took it as if I had invited him to sit down.

"What are you working on?" He leaned over and tilted his head to get a better look.

"Nothing, it's just a stupid drawing." I quickly slammed my sketchbook shut.

He leaned back in his chair and gave a one-of-a kind smile.

"Please?"

I looked down embarrassed and let the usual strand of hair fall in front of my face.

"Fine." I opened my sketchbook up to the page I was working on and slid it over to him.

His eyes grew wide and I blushed. Why did I blush? I shouldn't have blushed. I needed to stop blushing!

"Yeah, I know, it's bad." I bit my lip as a nervous habit.

"They aren't bad at all, these are amazing."

"Thank y-" I smiled a little.

I was cut off by the warning bell and I quickly grabbed my sketchbook out of his hands and started running to my next class. No, not vampire speed. Human speed, I know. Lame.
