A month later

Central Park, New York City.

Guess who just got fired. Again.

Fortunately, it wasn't from my aggression.
Ever since I saw the woman, I couldn't stop thinking about her. And my 'thinking' turned into 'daydreaming' which turned into 'slacking off' that turned into 'not doing anything at all'.

I sat on a bench. Should I give up? I'm ready to. It kind of hurts that the chances of us meeting again are so slim.
Ugh. Maybe I should turn into a drinker. Yes, I'll go do that.
I stood up and started walking toward the park exit, thoughts about her crossing my mind.

I reached the gate, looking back at the park. It really was beautiful. All the greenery and life.

I turned around when I accidentally bumped into someone.

"Oh. Sorry." The person said.
A lightbulb flickered on in my mind. I recognised that voice.

I looked at her. She had tanned skin. Her eyes were the colour of onyx. Coincidentally, she was wearing the same thin leather jacket she was wearing when I first saw her.

She caught me staring.
"Hey."
I snapped out of it.
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"It's fine. I have a feeling we've met before." She said.
"Yes we have." I told her about our encounter on the subway platform.
I saw it in her eyes .She recognised me!
"Oh yeah! I remember you!"

I finally could ask the one thing that was on my mind, bugging me for a month since we met.

"I'm sorry but, what's your name? I didn't catch it when we first met."
"My name's Courtney. A pleasure to meet you again..." She looked at me questionably with her hand out to me. I wonder why?

Oh, she wanted to know my name.

"Duncan." I finished her sentence and shook her hand.

She got out a pen and a piece of paper and wrote something down.
"Well, Duncan, I've gotta go, but here's my number, I hope we meet again." She smiled and gave me a piece of paper with a number. She then walked away.

"Thank you...Courtney," I said.
I hope we do, too, I thought.

I looked at the piece of paper she had given me. Along with her number, she had written something else.

Find me.

Hm.
Well, at least I know where to look.
