**Please keep in mind that this is a Harry Potter Next Generation AU, and many ships, ages and houses have been changed for the purpose of the plot. The Harry Potter universe and its characters all belong to the queen (aka JK Rowling) and I am not claiming that I own them in any way.**

Fanart for chapter one is by awkward_mermaid ! She is a wonderfully talented artist and is equally good at writing. She was also a HUGE help in this fanfic, as it's based off of a roleplay we did together. (I know, we're huge nerds.) Anyway, please go and check her out when you have a moment. Now, let the story begin!

In a house on the edge of Brighton by the sea, the Evergreen family was rushing around in utter turmoil. Felicity, the heroine of this story, was dragging a very full trunk down the stairs while engaged in a rapid conversation with her two best friends, Aja Ollivander and Teddy Lupin about Quidditch statistics.
"Yeah but the Ballycastle Bats won six games in a row last season." Said Teddy, who was sitting at the kitchen table beside Aja.
"They won six because they've got Simon Dalphene on the team. He's the only good player. If it weren't for him Ballycastle wouldn't have even made it to the semi-finals." Felicity retorted, pulling her trunk down the last step and then stopping to stand in front of her friends.
"The Holyhead Harpies aren't much better, Flick." Aja said, referring to Felicity by her nickname.
Teddy rolled his eyes. "Honestly, we're never going to agree on this."
Alyssa, Flick's nineteen year older sister, came down the stairs also holding a trunk.
"Mum, Roger's here!" Alyssa hollered.
"I'm coming, I'm coming!" Mrs. Evergreen called back from the kitchen. Alyssa was going with her boyfriend on a roadtrip to France this summer. Mrs. Evergreen came into the room and kissed her on the top of the head.
"Have a wonderful time, love." She said, giving her daughter a brief hug. "Did you say bye to your dad already?"
"I did. Have fun at camp Flick." Alyssa grinned and then headed out the door.
Mrs. Evergreen turned to Felicity.
"Now, did you remember to pack your toothbrush?" Mrs. Evergreen drilled.
"Yes Mum."
"Lots of socks?"
"Yep."
"Your wand?"
"Of course."
"Knickers?"
Felicity blushed a furious shade of red. "Mum. I'm fourteen. You don't need to remind me to bring knickers."
Aja snickered. Teddy looked down at his feet.
"Well, your father has the car all ready now, so we should head off." Mrs. Evergreen said, striding to the front door.
"Teddy, Aja, my dad put your trunks in the car already." Felicity informed them.
"Lovely." Aja said, still silently laughing.

Aja, Teddy and Flick were all on the way to Camp Eclipse, a summer camp for witches and wizards that lots of Hogwarts students attended during break while they weren't at school. From what they'd read on the small pamphlet, there were meant to be tons of activities and workshops to do while they were there. Dragon racing, magic carpet weaving, canoeing, muggle camping (a lesson where you practiced camping without magic, as if you were a muggle.) and many other things.
The group piled into the car. Flick was jammed between her friends, and Mr and Mrs. Evergreen sat in front, Mrs. Evergreen at the wheel and Mr. Evergreen holding the map.
The engine revved to a start. The car made a noise that sounded a bit like a cat sneezing, sputtered, then began to hover in the air, rattling unreliably until it was four feet from the ground.
"And, off we go!" Mrs. Evergreen said, pulling a knob. They shot forward with a bang, then floated up, up, up into the air.
Once it was suspended in the sky the engine quietened. "How long is the trip, Mr. Evergreen?" Aja wondered.
Flick's dad squinted at the map. "Only about thirty hours." He paused, then shook his head, fumbling to retrieve his glasses from his pocket. "Or rather, thirty minutes."
Felicity smiled and reached into the trunk sitting at her feet, taking out a bag of Toffee Slugs. "Want one?" She offered the bag to her friends, who each grabbed a large handful.
Toffee Slugs were exactly what they sounded like. They were toffee-flavoured slugs, but enchanted so that every one changed the pitch of your voice slightly, making for tons of ridiculous impressions.
"I'm really excited for Dragon Racing." Teddy said, in a voice that sounded remarkably like Kanye West.
"Yeah, this whole camp's going to be amazing." Flick replied in her normal voice, since she had not yet eaten any of hers.
The sky was grey outside (being typical London weather) but it was warm, and despite the clouds it already felt like summer. The trio looked out the windows down at the busy city, and at all of the cars on the ground that seemed like bugs from such a height. After about twenty minutes, hills were beginning to roll by beneath them and they could hear bird songs coming in through the open windows.
Everyone spent the car-ride talking about what they expected the camp would be like, and what they hoped to do while they were there.
"We're nearly there now." Announced Mr. Evergreen after a while. "Only about ten minutes 'till you arrive."
"Wait- what's that?" Asked Flick, pointing to a huddle of people on broomsticks.
"A huddle of people on broomsticks, of course." Aja said.
"At this height?" Teddy leaned forward for a closer look. They were about to breeze past the bunch when one of the people, a burly wizard with a green beard, swerved in front of them and caused the car to halt. Mrs. Evergreen leant her head out of the car window.
"Can I help you?" She said.
"Yes you can. Do you have children coming to Camp Eclipse in the car with you? I'm one of the camp's official security guards and it is my job to ensure everything goes well." He said haughtily.
"Yes, we do." Mr. Evergreen pushed his glasses up his nose anxiously.
"For security purposes we need you to state who is in the car with you. Camp Eclipse is a safe environment, and we want to make sure it stays that way. You never know these days. One of the kids in your car could be the next Voldemort"
The children looked at each other, astonished. No one really spoke of Lord Voldemort. The war was so many years ago, and people spoke of it with fear in their eyes, still anxious that he might return.
"Well, the children are Felicity Evergreen, Teddy Lupin and Aja Ollivander." Mrs. Evergreen said. Strangely, the man's eyes glinted at the mention of Aja's name.
"Well, you may drive on." He said coolly.

They parked in a gigantic cul-de-sac full of other brooms and cars that different families were arriving in. Mr. Evergreen got out of the car, passing the trunks to the three.
"Okay kids, we're going to head off. Have a lovely time!" Mr. Evergreen gave Felicity a hug and waved, hopping back into the car.
"Bye Mum, bye Dad. See you in a month." They watched the car float off into the air, then they began to make their way to the main cabin where all the other campers were going.
Felicity was walking alongside Aja, Teddy going slightly ahead. One of their other best friends, Liz, was getting off of a broom. She saluted to her older brother who had come to see her off and then ran to join them.
Liz had a mane of frizzy blue hair and horn-rimmed glasses. She carried her broom alongside her as she walked. Like the others, she was also a Ravenclaw, but she didn't play Quidditch. Liz preferred broomstick racing, and was one of the fastest flyers Felicity knew.
"How are you?" She cried as she hugged Aja. It was a funny contrast, seeing the girl wearing a rainbow array of bright colours alongside the girl in black.
Then she hugged Teddy, who was almost blown off of his feet by the intensity of her hug. His hair turned a bright shade of yellow in surprise, then went back to his normal blue. Teddy was an animangus and his hair had a tendency to turn different colours based on his emotions, much like a mood ring.
Lastly Liz hugged Flick. "How are you?" Felicity said, still mid-hug.
"I'm great." Liz replied animatedly. "I'm so excited for this camp. Did you hear about the dragon racing?"
Aja nodded. "And Magic Carpet weaving."
"Guys!!" They heard a squeal come from somewhere nearby, and suddenly a girl with white-blonde hair and huge blue eyes was running toward them, arms outstretched.
"Oh my god! Hi!!!" The girl, Skye, tackled Aja in a massive hug. "How was your trip here? I brought Sugar Quills!"
"Skye...Let...Go." Aja choked. She loosened slightly and looked around at the others.
"Oops. Sorry. Anyway, Aja, your boots are the coolest, Teddy, your hair is fabulous, Liz, I love the earrings and ohmigosh Felicity your bag is so cute! I'm so excited for camp! I really hope we're in the same cabin. I'm really scared for dragon riding but it'll be fun to make magic carpets. I wonder if there are any nice boys from the other schools here. Do you think the counsellors will be nice?!?" She said all at once.
Skye was one of Felicity's more excitable friends, and just like the rest of them she was a Ravenclaw.
"Yeah, well I guess we'll see when we get inside." Aja said, rubbing her neck.
"It looks amazing." Felicity breathed as they walked into the main cabin.
Round wooden tables dotted the room, already occupied by tons of witches and wizards. They were set with different coloured flowers on each one, and a long table was laid at the back with pancakes and waffles.
On one side of the room was a small risen platform, like a stage.
Chattering voices and the clinking of cutlery rang out through the room. People buzzed around, holding plates piled with food.
"So, should we find a seat?" Aja said.
"Yeah. It's pretty full though." Teddy gestured to a table. "We could sit there."
He was pointing to a table near the far corner. It was mostly empty, except for a girl with straight brown hair and a round face who had already started eating.
"Yeah, okay." The group made their way to the table. The girl looked up and her expression brightened.
"Hi." She said shyly. "I'm Ivy."
Liz smiled back. "I'm Liz."
Aja sat down in the chair beside Ivy. " I'm Aja Ollivander. You might recognize me. I work in the wand shop with my grandfather in the summers."
"I'm Felicity." Flick said.
"And I'm Teddy. Do you go to Hogwarts?"
"No. I'm homeschooled."
Skye slid into a chair across from her. "Hi, I'm Skye! I love your necklace." Ivy's hand went up to her throat, where she had a silver pendant shaped like an eye.
"Thanks." She looked down at her lap.

After everyone had started eating, A woman with a twisting brown wand, a wrinkled face and short hair that looked very sweaty came up to the small stage and flicked the wand at her mouth. Felicity presumed she was trying to perform the spell 'Sonorus' which made your voice louder, acting like a sort of microphone. She obviously was having some trouble with it, for she had to do it several times before she could be heard over the clamour of campers.
"Good morning everyone! I trust that you had a safe journey here, and I hope that your experience here at Camp Eclipse is just as safe. My name is Madame Vess, and I am your camp director. Here at camp we'll give you the most fun and safety we have to offer, and we hope you enjoy your stay."

"Each of you will have a different cabin that you will be put into for the length of your time here. There are the Selkies, Falcons, Phoenixes, Lions and Dragons. Every table is for a specific cabin, and once you find out yours you will move to that table. Your leading counsellor will help get you to your different activities and make sure you are comfortable here."
Then she went on with a speech about the rules of camp, the expectations that the leaders had of you, and some information about how the campers would be able to send letters to their families once a week.
Finally, she gestured for the counsellors to come forward. "Now, without further ado, let us present you with your cabins!"
