That was my first mistake of many. Tall Oak was so fast I almost fell straight off. It wasn't so much the speed but it was the way she went from a standstill to fifty kilometres an hour in an instant. I gripped her neck ruff so hard I thought I saw her wince. As she sped along she started to make a growling sort of cough. I then realised she was laughing, Tall Oak was laughing at me! I screamed as she made a tight turn and clung on tighter. " You really haven't done this often, have you?" The wolf chuckled. " First time," I answered between screams. We were moving towards the centre of the forest where the light was bright from the moon. Now came my second mistake. We came to a stop in a small clearing so suddenly that I went flying off and thudded against something hard and yet furry. A horrible suspicion arose inside of me and I risked a glance upward. The massive face of a pure white wolf was glaring at me with teeth bared. The wolf had a black patch over its eye that made it look like a pirate. With a sinking heart I saw that this wolf was much, much larger than Tall Oak was. " Uh, hello sir," I stuttered. That had been my second mistake. I don't know, I suppose I figured that because it was the size of a horse, and the fact that it was bigger than Tall Oak who was a female that it must be a male. I gulped as it snapped its huge teeth inches from my face and it stared down at me from above. It was about to strike again and I knew it wouldn't purposely miss a second time. As I closed my eyes and waited for the light at the end of the tunnel to come I knew I was a goner. " Shadowed Moon, stop!" Tall Oak shrieked. I tentatively blinked open my eyes and saw that Shadowed Moon had stepped back and was looking worriedly at an even bigger wolf. " Breaking Dawn, what should we do?" Shadowed Moon asked in a melodious and beautiful voice. The wolf she had addressed asBreaking Dawn was even more intimidating. It was also female and was the colour of rust with long legs and piercing green eyes. " Tall Oak, what is the meaning of this," Breaking Dawn asked in a deep voice. " Hush, we must talk quickly amongst ourselves for a minute, wait here," Tall Oak addressed me. She and the other two wolves moved off a little way and started to have a heated conversation with many glances in the direction of a towering bush. As I watched, Shadowed Moon padded in to the bush through a hole and returned a second later with another wolf. This wolf was silver with a white chest and paws. She looked like she was made out of moonlight. " Silver Frost, is it safe," I heard Tall Oak whisper to the silver wolf. Silver Frost was looking increasingly worried. After a while the four wolves approached me. " We will help your friend but you must stay here, you shall be safe here," Breaking Dawn informed me. I sighed with relief, John would be okay. " If in the unlikely occurrence of danger you may go in to that bush, but if you are not about to die then you must not go in to that bush. You must stay quiet and don't do anything stupid," Silver Frost ordered sternly. I nodded but curiosity struck me. What was so important in that bush. The wolves were obviously worried about so,etching and were very protective about whatever was in that bush. " I will, I hope you stay safe as well," I answered. The wolves nodded and leapt in to the shadows of the night towards the place where John lay. I lay sown to sleep but could not, my eyes kept drifting towards the bush. With a shake I closed my eyes and eventually found sleep. I slept on, unaware that anything important was happening until the middle of the night. A muffled cry awoke me from my sleep and I looked around me. Had Sally and her friend for no their way here? Were they making that sound. No, the sound was much closer. It seemed to be coming from the bush. I crept closer, was that a groan I heard? I knew I had been warned against going in but I couldn't help it. Mistake number three. I crept in and saw the shape of a person underneath a black cloak. I couldn't see a face but I knew it was not doing well. Muffled cries were coming from it and as I watched the body grew still,it had fallen asleep! I had no clue why a pack of wolves would have a human in their midst but I knew it couldn't be good. Maybe this person was their dinner or a prisoner. I knew that I had to get it out of here before the wolves came back. I picked it up and realised that the human was seriously light, like holding a feather. I quickly dashed out in to the night, the figure in the cloak didn't even wake up as I carried it away, it had no idea I had just saved its life. When dawn was breaking I stopped, I could go no further and I needed to sleep. I lay down next to the person in the cloak and we both slept on, oblivious to everything that was happening.
