Poem 2

34 3 1

I wonder if anyone will ever notice

The pain that has glazed over my eyes

Words

They almost slip past my lips

But my tongue gets caught

Between my teeth

Like a dog's tail

Between it's legs

But it wasn't always like this

I used to believe anything was possible

When I was the young girl in the princess gown

Dancing in the daisies

Summers sipping sweet lemonade

And picture books that made fantasy realms come to life

But those worlds were tarnished

In a war against myself

Happiness has disintegrated

Like paper burning in a fire

That little girl grew up

In a society where

We cower at the judgement of others

Where we are taught to hide from our own reflections

And where happiness

Is just another fairy tale

I had to add this because it is beautifully written piece of work. It explains perfectly the ongoing struggles with the harsh judgement of the society we live in, and it's just amazing. *applaudes you*
