Tom's POV/ His wedding night
Giovanna Fletcher. I could get used to that. She looked so beautiful today walking down the isle in that absolutely gorgeous dress. Gi's never been a girly girl, but she pulled off that dress amazingly and I'm so proud to finally call her my wife.
We'd just finished the reception and everyone loved my wedding speech/ song. I was worried that it wouldn't go very well but it went absolutely perfectly. Well, there's got to be a perfect wedding for my perfect wife.
'Congratulations you two.' Giorgina, Gi's sister, came over to us both and hugged us tightly. 'I'm so happy that you're finally married...' something about Giorgina seemed off and upset, which isn't like Giorgina at all. She's a social worker and she's usually happy about making people's lives better!
'Is there something wrong?' Gi asked her, turns out she noticed too. Giorgina shrugged and squinted her face, then looked down at her mobile phone that was in her hand.
'Yeah, I'm ok, it's just work just called.' She put her phone back into her little bag. 'D'you remember that little girl Bonnie that I had to take from her mother all them years ago, because she was on drugs?'
I took a moment to think, but I remembered in the end.
'Yeah well we had to put her into a care home when she was six weeks old didn't we?' Giorgina sighed. 'I was twenty then. I'm now thirty five, and she's still there.'
'No one's adopted her yet?' Gi seemed shocked, placing her hand over her mouth. 'Oh, the poor thing.'
'I know, she shuts herself out from the world.' Giorgina said. 'Whenever someone wants to adopt her she always finds something bad about them and claims that she wants to stay. I'm worried about her, because once she's sixteen she'll have to leave.'
'How long until she's sixteen?' I asked, curious about this Bonnie.
'In eight months.' Giorgina said. I would have loved to of found out more about this girls life, but then our DJ called me and Gi to the dancefloor for our first dance.
I held onto Gi's waist with one hand and held her hand with the other and the smile on both of our faces were absolutely alluring. Mr and Mrs Fletcher. It has a catch to it! I placed a kiss on her forehead as we carried on dancing around slowly. I heard all the aww's come from the crowd, so I gave her another kiss but on the lips this time.
'I love you Tom.' Giovanna whispered in my hear, making a lot of butterflies to appear in my belly.
'I love you too.' I whispered back to her, giving her all of my loving forever and eternity.
'Do you ever think of the future?' She asked me. 'You know, kids and that?'
I twirled her around then pulled her closer to my body.
'Of course I do!' I spoke happily. 'I'd love to be a Dad, and you would be the best Mum ever.'
Gi didn't say a word, just stared at me like she was keeping something. 'Gi?'
'But you see, the thing with having babies is that you've got to go through all that pain...' I didn't know what she was leading at so I raised my eyebrows. 'Then when they're out you have to wipe dirty bums and stay awake all night... and I don't think I'm ready for that.'
'It's fine, we can wait.' I smiled, then twirled her around one more time.
'But, I do want someone to look after.' Gi smiled. 'I want to be that person that someone looks up to...'
I didn't know what to say because I couldn't understand what she was saying, so my face must have looked confused as ever. My eyebrows turned into a frown and I lifted my shoulder's as if to say what?
'We wouldn't have any of those problems with a teenager...' Gi said in a suggestive way. 'Like, okay, we'd get stroppy moments and relationship dramas but we'd always be there to make it all better.'
'I don't understand?' More people had come onto the dancefloor and started dancing around. Gi held my hand tightly and leaned towards my ear, and took a deep breath before saying...
'I want to adopt Bonnie.'
