Rachel loved to go to school. Every day she would wake up at six to hop on the school bus. She would ride the bus for an hour watching kids coming back through the isles. Her best friend Lily would be the last one to hop on the bus before they reached school. Life seamed to be going just the way Rachel wanted it to be. You know, the ordinary, going to school, hanging out with friends, that type of stuff. Just regular every day stuff nothing unusual. Rachel enjoyed life this way and never ever complained about school. She loved it, and the teachers were all for it.Unfortunately for Rachel, life didn't continue this way.
When she got home from school that day her father walked up to her out of his office. He stood right next to Rachel and said, "Rachel, I have some bad news. Today at work I got fired and we don't have enough money to send you to a Christian School anymore." Rachel started to cry and her father wiped away her tears. She hugged her father and let her tears roll down the side of her cheaks. Rachel walked off to her room to pray. She prayed that her dad would get a new job and that she would make new friends at the public school.
Rachel knew that the first day of public school was going to be scary especially with all the bullies. She stepped into the building and searched for her first classroom. That's when three huge boys stepped in front of her. "Hi newbie!" They chanted. Luckily the bell rang and the bullies dashed to their classroom. She hoped the bullies would leave her alone after that but they didn't. Because the very next day they teased her and made her give up her lunch money. Rachel missed her friends and wished that her dad had not lost his job. That would fix every thing she thought. But she was wrong because God had a plan for her.
Life went on like this for awhile and not much changed. Her dad was still looking for a job and she was still looking for a friend. Neither of them, having much luck. One day a new kid came to school named Alfred. He was meaner than any of the other bullies and often made fun of them. Sometimes he would come up to Rachel and say, "Rachel, you look awful and your so poor that you can't even go to a private school. Ha, Ha, Ha," he said. "That's okay because God knows what's best for me and this must be it." Rachel answered him. Alfred walked away defeated.
One day Alfred randomly strolled up to Rachel. She was thinking, oh no! Not again! Alfred said, "Rachel, I noticed that your not mean to me when I tease you like everyone else is. I want to know why?"
Rachel replied, "Well I trusted Jesus as my savior a along time ago and he changed my heart. If you want to know Jesus as your savior to I would be happy to lead you through how to trust Jesus as your savior."
Alfred said, "Yes Rachel I do want to know Jesus as my savior." Rachel prayed with him and Alfred became a Christian. She was so happy and told her father the story when she got home from school. She finally understood why God sent her to the public school. To minister to other kids who weren't Christians.
The next day at school she noticed that Alfred was not bullying anybody instead the other bullies were teasing him. Alfred was acting like a Christian and not like a bully. Later that day the bullies came up to Alfred and I and said, "Alfred you have really changed and I can tell something really amazing has happened to you. What is it?"
Alfred replied, "I trusted Jesus as my savior and he changed my life. Do you want to trust Jesus as your savior to?" They said in unison, "Yes!" Alfred and Rachel walked them through it and soon they all knew Jesus as their savior. It was an exiting time for Rachel even though she had gone through some hard times.
When she got home that day her father said, "Rachel I got a better job than before and you will be able to go back to a Christian School." Rachel squealed with delight and ran to her room. She thanked God for answering her prayer and teaching her an important lesson. Even in tough times God can work through you and teach you things you never thought you would learn through tough times. For example in the bible when it talks about Joseph, he went through some really tough times and look how God worked in his life. God made him second in command in Egypt so that he could save his family and a lot of other people from starving.
