I woke up groggy the next morning. I had been up late the night before texting Melissa. We decided today would be the day we go around town, and she decided to be here at 10 a.m. I looked at my clock and read 9:30. I rushed out of bed to hop in a quick shower. When I got out, I heard the door bell. Fuck.
"Come in!" I screamed. I heard the door open and shut before shouting once again. "I'll be out in just a minute!"
"Ok. No rush. Take your time." She said. I quickly dried off, then slide my black leggings on. Then a black and purple knew length sweater. I let my brown curls stay down for today. I walked into the living room to find Melissa on the couch in a navy blue dress that barely touched her knees. The spaghetti straps resting on her shoulders. I caught myself staring and quickly looked down, blushing a deep red.
"Good morning." I said with a smiles on my face. She almost looked stunned when she looked at me.
"Morning Jess. Hungry?" She said, smileing brightly.
"A little. Why? Have something in mind?" I asked, cocking my head to the side slightly.
"I do actually. And it's close. I hope you'll like it."
"Oh I'm sure I will." I said as we headed out the door. On our way, she talked of how beautiful it was outside and how she wished she lived in the woods. She acted as tho she had no worry in the world. Her face looking around, finding beauty in everything. She was so mesmerizing.
"Here we are. Told you it was close. Let's go!" She said, gently grabbing my wrist and pulling me along with her. I laughed as we went inside. After we were seated and had our order taken, she looked at me and said, "so, tell me about yourself."
"What do you want to know?" I asked.
"Everything. I want to know about you. Your age, childhood memories, everything!" She smiled. I looked down. The thought of my past scared me. All the things that happened that sculpted who I am today. I hoped it wouldn't scare her away... Wouldn't be the first time...
